Mom Bloggers Good News: Thursday, June 25, 2009

We love to hear great news from members. This week read the amazing accomplishments and good news these mom bloggers have shared with all of us. And, if you have good news to share, tell us!

Chrysa Smith (http://www.wellbredbook.net) I've just surpassed 2000 hits on my website; I only had 600 as of Sept. '08, and my second book will be out late this summer. I credit most of my success to the power of the internet--email, blogging and links---gotta love them.

Tara Frey (http://www.tarafrey.com) My good news is that I was approached by a NY publisher after they read my blog {typing out loud} tarafrey.com. And asked if I would like to write a book! My new book "Blogging for Bliss Crafting Your Own Online Journal" is on Amazon and will be in bookstores everywhere August 4, 2009. In the book I also feature over 50 of the best creative bloggers on the web! Book #2 is in the works. My story proves that you never know who is reading your blog and opportunities for mommy bloggers are endless and incredible!

Melanie Edwards (http://www.modernmami.com) I'll be speaking at the Type-A Mom Conference this September in Asheville, North Carolina! Super excited!

Joanna Dolgoff, MD (http://www.DrWeigh.com/blog) The New York Times is publishing my Letter To The Editor this Saturday!

Monkey's Momma (http://monkeysmomma.blogspot.com) I started Monkey's Momma in September of 2007. Less than six months ago, I started doing product reviews and giveaways. Lately I have been approached by so many PR people that I decided to reignite my other blog, The Frugal Frog, as a Giveaway Blog in order to handle the amount of products people want to give away to my readers. I can barely keep up, but I am having a blast!

Julie Simmons I've self-published a book! I actually have the physical copies that prove that I really did it! It's a funny, irreverent take on pregnancy and babies called Stretch Marks. I offer very important advice on where to shop for Grandma underwear, when to get larger friends, what to steal from the hospital, why your squirt bottle is the most important thing in your life, and how to avoid post-delivery sex with your partner! It's available on Xlibris.com, but they are charging way too much for it, so I can't wait for it to be available on Barnes and Noble and Amazon in a month. In the mean time I'll be shopping it around to agents to see if I can get it published! I'm thrilled that I made the decision to do something I've always only dreamed of doing!

Lara (http://www.laplates.blogspot.com) We just hit 1000! As a mompreneur, I use my blog for business, mom tips & just things that get me through the day! We began our blogging adventure last summer to coordinate with our online biz. Since then I've met so many wonderful moms, all trying to do the same thing. #1 Be a great mom, wife, friend, etc. # Run a successful business from home. With the support of many, I think I'm getting there! We've even branched out to Twitter now @LaPlates!

Erin (http://thingsmomslike.com) I was recently chosen by Sharpie to be on The Sharpie Squad! I'll be representing them to other bloggers and trying out the newest Sharpie products for the rest of the year!

Kathi Macias (www.kathimacias.com) Beginning in July, we are kicking off a major media campaign for my two "mommy books," MOTHERS OF THE BIBLE SPEAK TO MOTHERS OF TODAY and HOW CAN I RUN A TIGHT SHIP WHEN I'M SURROUNDED BY LOOSE CANNONS? Included will be a signing at the annual International Christian Retail Services in convention in Denver and numerous radio interviews.

When I started I wrote about anything and everything but then, after doing much research, I found that a one-topic blog is really the way to make money and attract lots of readers. I also found out that I needed to be an expert in some field and set myself up as that expert. My main blog, Sweeties Sweeps, at www.sweetiessweeps.com, has now grown so much that I have over 7,500 readers, around 8,000 visits a day from all over and my site was featured on CareerBuilder.com, AOL, MSN, CNN Living and I was on air with the Tyra Banks show (the same show Freebies4Mom was on). I am successfully helping people win things they can't afford and it's a great feeling.

Dorothy Stahlnecker (http://grammology.com) Because of blogging on our site I've improved my writing enough so I had the courage to begin my book. Now remember I'll be 63 in July and (that's old) however in blogging that's wisdom and I'm so grateful to all my readers who have stood by me through my life (the last two years) they gave me the courage to just do it and so I am.. Our new page is launched next week and the book is in progress I'm a mom gram great gram friend wife and person and blogging feeds many of our needs...hugs. Life is good.

Planet Mom (http://www.notesfromplanetmom.blogspot.com) A Cup of Comfort for Dog Lovers II just published one of my essays ("Wag the Dog") and I've got three signings scheduled for next month! Woo hoo!
