New Books for Mom Bloggers

By Jennifer James, Founder (@mombloggersclub)

In the world of mom blogging I've found that information is paramount to successfully creating the blog you're happy with. Typically great advice is scattered here and there through the Internet and it takes time and know-how to find the exact information you need to make the right impact on your blog. That's why I'm thrilled information-packed books about how to become a better mom blogger and how to effectively and properly use Twitter have just been released by two ladies who definitely know their stuff: Stephanie Sheaffer and Allison Worthington. Plus, if you want to read poignant essays from mom bloggers, check out Kimberley C. Blaine's (the Go-To Mom) latest book: The Internet Mommy.

Bloggertunity: A Mom's Guide to Blogging
Stephanie Sheaffer, also known as Metropolitan Mama, has put together 10 packed chapters of everything you want to know about blogging from how to get started to the importance of stellar writing. Starting off brilliantly with an excellent forward from Janice Croze and Susan Carrareto from 5 Minutes for Mom, Stephanie goes into great detail about some of the things mom bloggers eventually fall into like running ads on your blogs and doing product reviews. She breaks down various ad networks geared to bloggers, introduces you to the finer points of accepting ads on your site, and also provides detailed tips on how to effectively review products.

One of the chapters I love best is how to do good with your influence. It's quite easy to learn the nuts and bolts about blogging, but it really shows growth when you can take the information you've learned to create a great blog and transform that into becoming a positive influencer.

If you are a seasoned blogger, this book is not for you as you're sure to have learned most of these tips on your own, but if you are just starting out and want to really improve your blog, Bloggertunity is a perfect starting point!

Smart Girl's Guide to Twitter

If you want to be the best, you have to learn from the best and Allison Worthington is one of the best and most recognized Twitter users in the digital mom community. Jam-packed with easy-to-follow tips such as how to get started to advice and tricks seasoned tweeters like me can learn, the Smart Girl's Guide to Twitter is a solid must-buy.

We can all agree that using Twitter is essential these days. It's not just enough to have a blog, so if you haven't been using the platform to its fullest potential then the Smart Girl's Guide to Twitter is calling your name and whispering, "Buy me. Buy me". It's that resourceful and useful.

There is a lot of information to digest, so delving into this e-book and putting into practice all of Allison's tips will take time, but this is a book you will rely on time and time again for easy reference. You can also become a part of the Smart Girl's community by purchasing the book. Allison has enlisted mom bloggers to help welcome you to Twitter and will always follow you if you reference them with the Twitter hashtag #SGC.

The Internet Mommy: Inspiring Interviews and Stories From Mothers Who Work and Play Online

I just learned about Kimberly C. Blaine's new book a few days ago and haven't had a chance to check it out, but if it's as good as her others, this is definitely one for your bookshelf.

Kimberly, also known as the Go-To Mom, has compiled essays from moms just like us who call the Internet their stomping ground. There's something comforting about hearing the tales of moms who understand what it's like to spend hours on the Net and not judge. We're modern digital moms and it's always nice to read stories from others who completely "get us".
