Share a little something about yourself with other moms.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, conservative politico, Army wife and mother, Alison (alias AJae), draws on the lifetime of conflict between her mother's views as a feminist liberal turned uber-religious social conservative, and her biological father-- a liberal, free-love world traveler-- to provide no-holds barred commentary on current issues, fashion, beauty, and motherhood. She manages one group blog, Make Me a Hot Mama Magazine (www.makemeahotmama.com), and two other blogs, AlisonJerabek.Com: A is for Activist and Freak News Daily. She writes about anything from news and policy debates to her travel experiences to fashion and style to her struggles as a military wife and mother.
What is your blogging philosophy?
I created Make Me a Hot Mama Magazine after reading through popular "fashion fluff" magazines like Cosmo and realizing that I never actually found solid, useful articles on how to improve my image or shopping savvy. And, so often a mom's appearance is the last priority in her busy life (I'm certainly no exception), yet, as we all know, it is so important to our self-esteem. Just dabbing on a bit of lip gloss can make you feel like a million bucks. Motherhood shouldn't be synonymous with baggy sweatpants and an over-sized tee--staying up-to-date on fashion and beauty trends shouldn't be a consuming process. I strive to simplify your life by sorting through the chaos of the fashion world to bring mom-friendly style advice and tips in an easy-to-use format through my online magazine, (Make Me A Hot Mama, http://www.makemeahotmama.com).

In October 2008, three very talented mamas joined the magazine--Darcie Baker (Product Review Editor), Julie Fraser (Advice Columnist), and Anne Litz (Fitness and Health Columnist).

To sum it up:

A good blogger creates fresh, relevant content that *they* are passionate about on a semi-regular basis (they don't drown their audience with information, but they don't starve them, either. Slow and steady *quality* is superior to an excessive quantity of slap-dash content). The focus isn't too much on their own personal life, but they try to take personal experiences and think of ways to help/entertain their readers instead of simply "journaling" on-line. With that being said, I love reading blogs that put a personal twist on their niche--l look for personality and content focus. It is possible to be too professional.

Ultimately, I try follow the Golden Rule of Blogging:

Blog for your readers.

Hi there from The Girlz Korner in upstate New York where you'll find light, witty and rather entertaining articles on every topic imaginable from The Little Black Dress to Making Whoopie. So if you get a chance to kick back and exhale, if only for a brief moment ... come on over and see me some time.
