A native Coloradoan, I was raised in Fort Collins. Despite a childhood full of mountain adventures, I packed my bags and headed to University of Nebraska on scholarship to play in the Cornhusker Marching Band. During my college years, I had the opportunity to fall in love with Spanish on a mission trip to Guatemala with the God’s Child Project, and then study Spanish for two semesters at the Universidad de Costa Rica Sede de Occidente. I met my gorgeous husband in Costa Rica, and after graduating with a degree in Spanish and a minor in Music, I moved to Costa Rica to live the Pura Vida life and teach English in the rainforest. Thus began a career of teaching high school Spanish, the creation of a unique Spanish for Native Speakers curriculum f I recently decided to stay home as a full-time parent to our two girls, born in 2013, and 2015, and now every day is an adventure as we celebrate Costa Rican and Coloradoan traditions in our home. We use music, technology, dance, cooking, and Latin-themed outings to raise our two daughters to speak, read, write and be proud of their bicultural heritage.
