GIVE ME A CALL SOMETIME!Those pleasantries that we all learn as we get older.  Those short pat answers and replies that flow off of our tongues.  Right about now you may be wondering what I am talking about and are about to move on to the next post but I ask you to continue reading, you will see yourself soon or maybe you won’t.Scene one:  Someone has received bad news, it may be health related or perhaps they have been notified of the death of a loved one…response: “I’ll pray for you or I’ll…See More

A Bad Case of WTD

I suffer from WTD (wandering thought disorder)  This is not ADD but rather a middle aged malady of a woman who wonders "what if?"  What if I could turn back the clock 30 years?  What if I had followed my dreams and not my heart, could I have done both?  I truly believe that many of us suffer from WTD and just don't realize it.  I have learned to embrace my wanderings.  My mind has taken me down many paths.  Some have been pleasant and others have been painful but either way I  have learned…See More

Dust Bunnies

Housework...the chore every person who hasn't been born with a silver spoon attached to them has to deal with it.  Something dirty, dusty, stinky and disgusting  around, in, on or under their household domain.  I generally can get through my tasks without much difficulty or displeasure but it is the dust that frustrates me.  I can not vacuum it up like crumbs on the floor or push a button and make it disappear like dried on food in the dishwasher  instead, I CHASE IT!  Someone on a different…See More

Stepping Stones

Stepping Stones12/01/20130 Comments We have all tried to cross a creek or puddle using stepping stones which seem to be placed in such a way that we carefully step from one to the other until we reach the other side.  We diligently try and avoid getting wet at all costs.  We have learned from our past experiences what will happen if we slip off…See More

The ramblings of a Nana

To the moon and back11/20/20130 Comments We are all familiar with the saying "to the moon and back" which generally refers to a love that cannot be measured.  One day as I told my granddaughter that I loved her to the moon and back she said, "I love you more because I love you to Florida and back!"  I was now puzzled and asked, "why Florida?"…See More

The face in the mirror

As I gazed in the mirror this morning I could only cringe.  New lines and wrinkles, new gray, new age spots....all this newness simply meant I was getting old.  I am not obsessed with my age of 56 but I do acknowledge that I have more days behind me than what I will ever see in front of me.  I wish I could see myself through the eyes of my grandchildren.  They don't see the wrinkles or age spots but rather someone whose eyes twinkle when they are around, someone who feels silly and ageless.  My…See More

imaginary friend

My imaginary friend11/07/20130 Comments As I work on a new character for my granddaughter's book, I try and remember what it was like to use my imagination as I did when I was a child.  When did I lose touch with that part of my being?  I am amazed at how quickly children can  slip into character without any theatrical  training or coaching.…See More
