I Hope She Knows

It's been almost a year since I left my job to stay at home. But once you've worked in the field of domestic violence, it never leaves you. At least it hasn't for me. As I rolled up to the check out with two pissed off and tired kids, I saw her. My heart skipped a beat. I was at once happy to see her (because she was alive) and sad. I was sad because standing right…See More

How to Help Your Child (and You) Survive the Week Following Their Tonsillectomy/Adenoidectomy

I was going to title this post, "How to Get Through the Completely Shitastic Week Following Your Young Child's Tonsillectomy: Hide the Liquor (you) and Potato Chips (them)" but I thought that might seem a smidge dramatic. Then I thought, "Tonsillectomy: An Excersise in Kid Torture, I Want to Cry" might be better. Then I almost called it "Tonsillectomies Suck the High Hard One: How to Prepare For the Worst Week of Your Child's Life" and then I settled on "Eureka! Tonsillectomies are the Devil"…See More

Attachment Mamas

This is a group for all the proud attachment parents. The ones that sleep with their baby, carry their baby or wear them in sling, for the moms that do not practice cry-it-out, do not spank and take a loving, gentle and natural course to parenting.

I am a mama of 2. My two year old son was recently diagnosed with SPD and my daughter is 7 months old. I love my kids endlessly and strive to be a mama they will be proud of.
What is your blogging philosophy?
Be honest. Life is funny, even when it's infuriating.I write about my life raising my little humans, one at risk for autism and our newest little chubster. I tend to be a bit sarcastic and silly. It makes life more fun.

Dear Sweaty Half Naked Jogger Guy,

Posted on June 15, 2012 at 8:15pm 0 Comments

I'd like to thank you, Sweaty Half Naked Jogger Guy (SHNJG) for coming along when you did. Several months ago I started implementing my "no judgment" policy. Because well, judgment is gross and I hate the feeling. So,  just when I thought I had it down, you run through my field of vision and tempt me. You were wearing the equivalent of a Speedo, your butt cheeks, trying so hard to escape their lycra prison and running like a gazelle through the fair city. My first instinct was to judge you.…

have three challenges everytime I think about making dinner. One kid is crazy

picky, hates most meat and loves dairy. The other loves food, especially meat,

but is allergic to milk and eggs (peanuts and shrimp too). I love butter,

bacon and cheese but that's irrelevant. I have moderate skills in the kitchen,

so whatever I cook needs to be easy-ish. And fast. Because, if left for too long

to their own devices, someone gets hurt. My kitchen is tiny.  My goal is always…

Thanks for the welcome, Colleen!  As for you not being able to homeschool because your son has a risk for autism, well, I would just suggest that you get a second opinion.  =)  Maybe join a local homeschool group and participate in their preschool activities, etc.  Thankfully, there are so many options for homeschoolers with regards to socialization, that in my opinion it's a non issue.  I usually have to PARE DOWN what we're doing in a week, just so we'll have time to focus on schoolwork!  Still, field trips, park days, classes, sports, etc. are out there for homeschoolers so I would encourage you not to give up on the idea if it's what you really feel is best.  Take care and God bless!

Oh boy told you I'm new at this, I think I replied on the wrong section. Thanks for your comment Colleen. I'm really looking forward to reading your blog. I love the idea of connecting with moms all over the country and seeing how much we have in common as women and moms quite amazing considering all of our different backgrounds but not surprising when we're all moms. I'm also looking forward to learning from others and starting my blog :)

Hi! Thanks for the add! I am really excited about beginning the process of becoming a "real" doula. I am hoping to focus on bonding after loss, abortion and miscarriage support, and also support to incarcerated mamas. We will see how the journey goes...

xx!
