The Kim K Barbie

I'm a recovering Barbie-addict. I played with them until I was like 16, and I still would if I didn't have all boys. I'm a little burnt out on trucks, pirates and Spiderman, so anytime we're at someone's house and they have little girls, I'll immediately wonder if they have Barbies. I even have a method:I'll make eye contact with the girl. Whether she's across the room or simply in the seat next to me, eye contact will be made. I'll smile sweetly and gesture for her to come closer. Once…See More

I'm stretched thin with school and work and life...but he's never sated with what I can give him. (My 5 year old) How do I do this? I was a SAHM for years...I'm at my wits' end. The details are here.

Veteran Moms Needed

I'll admit it: There are worse things in life than a 5 year-old boy who loves to be with his mommy. Like famine, disease, another Kardashian reality show...But I really can't take it anymore, and I need some insight as to how I should deal with the obsession attention. (Before you go on, yes I know this won't last forever and yes I know there will be a day when I'll miss this, but for the sake of my sanity I must have coping mechanisms.)When I leave the room for more than one minute--really,…See More

Parents Stopping Puberty So Child Can Pick Gender

There's a couple in California who want their pre-teen to pick his/her own sex. Yes, you read that correctly. At present, the child is being pumped full of hormone blockers to delay puberty until he/she decides which gender path to choose. Once that decision is made, hormones will be given to start puberty. …See More

Channel One and Your Schools

Channel One News  is a 'school-safe' news channel which informs teens on current world events and pop culture. It's free to schools, which means it's funded by a lot (LOT) of advertising. Earlier today I posed as an interested parent wanting to get Channel One in my school district. The reps at Channel One were very helpful, and informed me that they have many new things coming, including an interactive model geared towards grades as young as…See More

The Mind of A Mother

Sometimes I wonder if I had enough time to keep a journal, what it would read like. Going one step further, what would it read like if I waxed Virginia Woolf and wrote in narrative mode, penning whatever dialogue I had with myself. Would I share such thoughts with people I knew? People I didn't know? Would I risk being committed to a psychiatric facility for the sake of  my blog? What the hell; I like living on the edge:Morning:What is wrong with them? Don't they know how to be normal? (Thought…See More

She Must Beat Them

I'd like to think I have a handle on my kids. Sure, there are the occasional outbursts in public, sometimes so unbelievable that I pretend I'm the nanny, but for the more manageable ones I'm not opposed to public time outs and major ultimatums. ("If you don't knock it off I'm going to throw all of your toys away when we get home.") But I'd say that more times than not, I'm in control. And yesterday during the first part of our trip to Home Depot, I still believed I had it goin' on. (I can't…See More

Focker Me

Yesterday, my 5 year old had one of his best little buddies over to play. While his mom and I chatted upstairs, we suddenly noticed that it was far too quiet. With the bedroom door closed and behind it three rambunctious boys, we looked at each other with raised eyebrows and wondered. But one thing led to another, and we forgot about checking on it. When my girlfriend and her son left, I turned to G."So, G, did you have fun?""Yup." He nodded, munching on a grape."You like playing with him, don't…See More

Playboy Bunnies, Slutty Nicole Sherzinger, and Your Kids

When someone thinks of feminism, I'm sure Playboy immediately comes to mind. Forget birth control, suffrage, and equal pay; true liberation is found in deep cleavage and nude centerfolds. Right?NBC is bringing this glitter to the public airwaves as part of their Fall 2011 lineup. The polemic is that the show will demoralize women by casting them in a meaty light. But NBC prez Bob Greenblatt claims the show is about…See More

I'm very, very flawed. I love my kids and husband more than life itself. So why do I want to hide under the bed from everyone at least twice a week?
What is your blogging philosophy?
We Aren’t Perfect is a blog dedicated to flawed mothers everywhere. If your floors are sticky with juice, bananas and unidentifiable matter, this is the place for you. If your kids sometimes make you wonder why you didn’t get your tubes tied during that last C-section, we have a place for you. Admitting our faults to each other should be as natural as the love we have for our kids.

Hi from The Girlz Korner in upstate New York. My blog offers light, witty articles on every topic imaginable and was created over a year ago. I truly designed my blog simply for the joy of sharing info. and never expected it to take off the way it has. I also never thought of adding a Followers section until now and because of all the awesome blogs listed here, I'd love to offer my readers the opportunity of connecting with you as well. So please ... come on over and see me some time. Have a great week.
