You couldn't pay me enough to go back and do middle and high school years again. The angst, social pressure, feelings of inadequacy...the horror!!! So, my daughter with special needs is 13 and the social gap has become large enough that she really doesn't "fit in" with the other girls. That on top of the hierarchy of "cool" and "in"...she is left behind. We have tried get togethers with some of her classmates on a very choosey basis, but it is quite clear that they are tolerating the time…See More

What is your blog name?: mom of many needs

Share a little something about yourself with other moms.: As my kids say...I am old, tired, and pitiful. I am a diehard Cuse Fan. I have been converted to a NY Giants Fan. I am trying to enjoy the snow and cold, but love the beach. I have always loved cats...did I mention I love the beach?

What is your blogging philosophy?: I am a mom of two children. "A", my daughter who is 13 years old, has Down syndrome, decannulated of the tracheostomy she had for 11 years, with type 1 diabetes...in Middle School and inching into puberty. "J" her younger brother, 8 years old, typical, and oh so not, attends a Montessori School and is a soccer, ds and wii-aholic. I am married to Brian, my hubby and partner in the crime of parenting. I mommy, volunteer, get involved, observe and then comment.

The Museum of Motherhood is the first and only facility of it's kind serving as a unique resource for those who wish to study the history of mothers, mother-art, and the culture of family. The Museum's purpose is to provide a space and platform that raises awareness of mother-work and amplifies the voices of women and families. It's purpose is also to encourage individuals to evaluate their own experiences as mothers in authentic and mindful ways. The Museum of Motherhood serves as a unique resource and archive for everyone who wants to study mothers from lay-people, to school children, to serious scholars.
