They Gassed Me

Last week I learned a valuable lesson about communication.  It was during an emergency oral surgery that experienced this epiphany.  There is nothing like being laid far back in a dental chair filled with laughing gas and feeling not quite yourself. I had things I had wished I could share with my kids, learned about about how important it is to understanding communication and not just language itself.  And I learned some things about my own self talk. Read more about my experience here. …See More

Be What You Want

What if I could tell you that you could be the most awesome mother you ever wanted to be and you could create the life you wanted.  You might look at me and think I was crazy and say no you can't.

Do you remember what your mother used to tell you that you could do when you were grown up.  I know when I was little my mother and everyone else in my family would tell me I could be anything I wanted to be.  I know that I tell my children the same thing.

So if we…

My love of Star Wars is what has helped me try to make sense of this 'foreign' land I have moved to - who knew if you moved 90 minutes away from Chicago that it was a whole new world?  I am glad that someone else out there can relate to my translating things into Star Wars speak - thank you so much for the comment!

Thanks, Gen, for your kind words. It sounds like we do have a lot in common. Motherhood is an adventure, isn't it---and the best one I've ever been on. My writing partner and I started the blog as a way to connect with other moms, particularly ones with special needs kids. We wanted to help create a community so that moms os special needs kids would not feel so alone. We have found that, rather than creating the community, we are joining one that has been here all along. :)

Such a great blog--I loved the post about changing our mindsets and not letting them get in our way! Thanks for stopping by my blog--wow, a 2 year old and a set of special needs twins--and I thought my hands were full! How old are your twins? Thanks for connecting and have a great day!
