Tips on how to treat a new mum

I believe you will agree with me when I say that a woman doesn’t know what maternity is about until she becomes a mother herself. Often I see pregnant women around me during their first year after their baby is born planning or trying for the second child etc. I wasn’t any different, of course. “What can surprise me now? I know I will not sleep, that it will be hard, that the baby will always cry, but I will handle it and one day it will pass”, you think. However, in reality, each of us are…See More

My experience with postnatal depression and how I see it one year later

I’ll never forget the moment when I was looking at my few days old children and tears were falling down my face. However, it wasn’t the tears of joy, it was the the tears of regret. Regret that we’d wanted to have them and regret about my future. It was a couple of days after Yaw and myself had moved into the hospital. Nurses recommended this step as I’d wanted to breastfeed. During one week all four of us lived in a hospital room the size of a shoe box. I am always grateful that we had this…See More

My name is Ivanka and I'm a mum of two adorable twin boys Henry and Mason. At the beginning of motherhood I went through a bad postnatal depression and as I'd learned later on, it is a very common thing in the early stages of motherhood. That's why I started to write a blog. I focus on helping other mums out there who go through similar thing as I did. I know how horrible this disease can be, but unfortunately too many mums suffer in silence. My goal is for postnatal depression to become a topic mums talk about without any concern and if I help at least one Mother in a similar situation it would have been worth writing the blog :) x
What is your blogging philosophy?

Hi Ivana, thank you for taking out the time to read my story and leave a comment. I've learned so much about depression (the spiritual side) and yes it can be completely over for you...but if you're not aware of the things that's causing or contributing to your depression then it may feel as though it never goes away.
