I'm the mother of a 3 year old boy, Sebastian, and live in upstate New York with Bash (nickname), while my husband commutes to work in NYC every day. So, we're all always a little frazzled and exhausted and slightly tense. To allay the situation, we've decided to pursue our dream of buying and starting up an organic farm where we can create a cohesive and sustainable life (for us and as many other people as we can reach).
When Sebastian is sleeping or with his friends, I design and build jewelry from recycled materials and plants, and try to run my business, McFlashpants as sustainably as possible (even built a hydrotumbler out of old soda bottles).
We're all recovering New Yorkers who are born-again greenies, g-diaper afficionados, avid composters, rabid recyclers, local food buyers, and wood-stove-house heaters (clean-burning catalytic soapstone of course).
Lucky for me, Sebastian is a sweet natured, helpful child. But he's been suffering lately from a little PTSD (I think)--two years ago, I fell through my porch railing while he was napping (and still breast feeding), and got taken away to the ICU for a month. For two years, he barely registered the loss; but this month (the anniversary month), he has been unusually quick to anger (even for his age), nearly psychotic with clinginess and aversion to change (even something as simple as leaving the house), and fraught with nightmares. I think it's the accident, but then again, it could just be that we've been wintered into a small house together for months.
Like I said, I don't have much to go on but instinct, here.

New-moms experience a shift in focus from the self to the baby. This is understandable although it may make new moms neglect their own health and fitness which may lead to postpartum depression, low self-esteem and even resentment. That is why it is crucial to get fit again and lose the baby bulge soon. But how soon…
