I am: mama to a gorgeous 3-year-old little girl; a newly-minted Ph.D. on the academic job market (teaching, but not on the tenure-track yet); married to another academic (so we have the "two body problem"), a California native but now living in the South (still in culture shock after two years); an ardent feminist (passionate but with a great sense of humor so I promise I won't bite!); a foodie; a martini mom (though wine is my usual poison); a Democrat (but an equal opportunity friend so don't let that scare you if you're more conservative); over 40 (just about to turn 41); a television addict (if it's on Bravo, I probably watch it, among many other things); and a lot of other things but I'll stop here because this is getting too long!

I have been blogging since...

So if you get a chance to kick back and exhale, if only for a brief moment ... come on over and see me some time.
