Is Cohabitation Good For Kids?

Posted on February 16, 2010 at 7:46pm 2 Comments

I listened to a radio show this past weekend where the topic of discussion was Marriage vs. Cohabitation and which was better. Many reasons, from not wanting the state to be involved in a relationship to cohabitation was a sin was raised and debated as to the various reasons for why one way was preferred over the other.

While I’m not here to judge, as a mom, I do not favor cohabitation especially where kids are involved. As someone who’s raising 3 boys, it’s imperative that…

The Death Of Our Children

Posted on May 9, 2009 at 1:09am 0 Comments

Every time I hear about the death of a young person murdered on the streets of inner-city America, I’m often reminded about the murder of my own brother 13 years ago in St. Louis, Mo. Although most of us are shocked by the brutality inflicted on the streets in urban areas throughout this country, I’m not. I’ve lost my own brother to violence and, as a child growing up in inner city St. Louis, I’ve attended too many funerals to even keep count. Sadly, the only way I am able to remember to this… Continue

Hi there from The Girlz Korner in upstate New York where you'll find light, witty and rather entertaining articles on every topic imaginable from The Little Black Dress to Making Whoopie. So if you get a chance to kick back and exhale, if only for a brief moment ... come on over and see me some time. I just love this site. The women are so embracing and I hope you are enjoying your experience as much as I am.

Kim, I am new to MBC, so may be WAY off on etiquette. I saw you had asked another blogger to follow your blog since you follow theirs.

Want to exchange readership or "following blogger"ship(?). I signed up to follow your blog and was very impressed.

Could you follow mine as well at: http://jotgiveaways.blogspot.com. If not, completely ignore me, not meaning to be rude. :)

Glad you liked my Waussie site Kim! The Waussies have just arrived in the US and I'm off to Australia end of March to do store appearances there. Had a great review of my books from Mia at pragmaticmom.com. It's been a really amazing experience and I feel truly Blessed to be able to do what I'm doing. The best part is that I get the chance to teach children everywhere, to be caring, thoughtful and polite, and make others feel great about themselves!

Oops! I forgot the end of my comment to Kim. The challenge is, that they don't say "Please" or "thank you" and we don't give! Many of us already to that. But I know that sometimes, when your 3 or 5 year old's screaming and you've had it - it's so much easier to give in. I know. I've done it!

Thanks so much Kim. I was very impressed with your blog content. I feel so strongly about re-educating our children and going back to basics. In fact, I want to issue a challenge for all of us moms and grandmoms. When your child says "thank you", or "please" or shows gratitude, I feel it's the beginning of self-worth. Because your response, makes them feel good about themselves. And that, I believe, is where it all starts.
