My child cannot stand having her face touched.
It’s been like this since she was a newborn, when her face seemed to dry out very easily- our post bath ritual consists of slathering cream on her face. She sputters, moves her head from side to side and makes angry pterodactyl noises. We have tried putting it on first thing, making funny faces, less cream, more cream, gentle, fast- her reaction is the same, acting as if we are waterboarding her.

Toddlers really are sponges – they suck up EVERYTHING. They watch and listen when you think that they can’t see, or hear you, and then they repeat whatever it is that you didn’t want them to see/hear at the worst possible time. I swear these miniature people were put on this earth to embarrass us sometimes, and make us wonder how we could create such perfect beings the next minute.

Miss K’s 2nd birthday is right around the corner (which I am finding hard to believe!) and I have been asked by at least 10 different people what kind of party we will be throwing her, are we hiring a place, getting in entertainers, having a bouncy house – I feel like I am surrounded by looks of horror when I say no, we are just going for a nice day out to the children’s museum – JUST THE FOUR OF US.
