Share a little something about yourself with other moms.
I guess all bloggers say that it’s been a dream of theirs to share their passion with the world. Add me to the list.
I’ve been in the Fitness industry since Gin Miller and Reebok launched “Step Aerobics” in the 90′s. I wasn’t extremely athletic as a kid. Put it this way – I was always the “base” as a cheerleader – but I had plenty of cheer! After I had gained an enormous amount of weight as an exchange student living in Belgium, I did video after video (on my VCR, of course) of Reebok Step. Who knew there was this magic secret to working out…when you do something you love, you actually do it more often! I couldn’t get enough, and the weight came off.
My dad saw the change in me (more than just physical – it was like I was a new person!) and suggested I become an instructor. It seemed like a crazy idea – but, okay! That decision turned into an AFAA Certification, a B.S. in Human Nutrition, Foods & Exercise from Virginia Tech, an ACE Personal Trainer Certification and an ACSM Health Fitness Specialist Certification. I’ve taught as many formats of group exercise (group x) as possible – nothing makes me happier than putting on that microphone and cranking up the music, then watch people move and have an incredible experience for an hour.
In 2000, my mom suggested we run a race together. She had been a marathoner when I was growing up, and I knew the positive effects running had on her mood, stress level and more. We didn’t just start easy – my very first race was a half-marathon (The Philadelphia Distance Run). The 13.1 sticker had been earned!
While I love teaching group x, running is my current passion. I’ve completed 6 half-marathons, and a menagerie of other races. My 2013 goal (resolution, maybe?) is to complete 13 races. Don’t worry – I’ll document them all here!
I look forward to sharing my fitness journey (let’s face it, it’s never over), my love of coffee and the need for a cocktail (or 2…or 3…or a bottle of wine) regularly.
I have been blogging since...

I became the mother at the age of 20. The feeling I got is inexpressible. I was not prepared to take this responsibility. I was unemployed. My mother died when I was very young. I had to struggle a lot to earn a livelihood. It was a very struggling era of my time. I cried when I…
