Blue Balls

I saw something the other day that still has me scratching my…head. Elliott and I were out killing time by running errands, when we pulled into the parking lot of Target. Parked next to us was a Jeep Cherokee. It was nothing out of the ordinary in a suburban shopping mall, with the exception of one…hmm, two things. Hanging from the hitch and dangling below the bumper, was a set of balls. Bull’s balls. In our household, we refer to them as cohones.

After The Blood And Tears: Back to the Crib

I'm not exactly admitting defeat on the whole crib-to-bed transition thing. It really is for my child's safety. Ok, and maybe a little for my sleep and my morning work outs.

Buddha started off so well, but once he figured out he could actually get out of his bed (only 4 days later) I couldn't get him to stay in. So, that led to me having to stay in his room with him until he fell asleep. While he used to self-soothe and fall asleep so quickly in his crib, I think he…

Do you ever have Mom failure moments?

You know, the times where you feel like you messed up, or forgot something really important about your child or their schedule?

I just got a call from the Children's Hospital reminding me and giving me instructions for Levi's MRI appointment on Monday. Come again?  MRI? Monday?  Uh, okay...if you say so...wait, why wasn't I notified of this earlier?

Apparently I was notified, back in January. Just a few days after his two week post-op appointment.  At least that's what…

Happy February! I hope all of you are sticking to those goals you set forth for yourselves at the beginning of the year. If not, it’s never too late to jump back on the wagon!! This week, I want to share with all of you my experience of training for my first fitness show. “Fitness Show?”, you ask….Yes! A fitness show is pretty much a body-building/physique competition. The competition includes men and women of all ages. I decided to blog about this because I wanted to show all of you that…

Today's Joy of Love assignment was to document Where.  Where I fell in love.  Where my heart became his.   I could have applied this to my kids, but who wants a picture of a yucky delivery room?  I'll take sunny California any day.  San Diego, where JDubbs and…

A Tribute to "Ms. Limited English Speaking Nail Salon Lady"!!

All the nail salon ladies of the world should be saluted, no doubt, but the LIMITED ENGLISH SPEAKING ones are getting all the praise today.  (The ladies that have been saluted in the past here in the Break Room can be found under "Today, We Salute YOU" tab in the navigation bar.)  Many of you are likely familiar with Anjelah Johnson's hilarious salute to her nail salon lady.  If not, you'll…

Know Where You Came From - The Genographic Project

National Geographic and IBM joined forces in a global research project to chart the migratory history of us humans. The purpose of the project is to gather DNA from people around the world (like you and me) to study how our ancient ancestors migrated to where we are today. How cool is that!

The Fitbug - Motivation in my Pocket

I do enjoy my workouts… the second they are over. Granted, there is a definite sense of pride and “I did good for my body today” feeling that follows a good workout. But somehow, that sense of achievement holds no reserve to motivate me for any subsequent workout. I’m on my own. Left to my own device, I would probably never exercise. And really, I only workout because I have to. I wish that I were one of those that could get lost in the endorphin…
