Drinky Poos

First proper night out as a Mummy. Without Dave. And it's a hen do. Oh dear.

I sense slurring, embarrassing photographs and at some point complete abandonment of blood saturated slip ons.
Getting Ready Ritual

The only bra that doesn't cut into my shoulders is washed. The granny-sucky-inny massive pants are ready. Corn plasters are on, pits have been shaved and hair has been singed, sprayed and split-ended into oblivion.
I know. Wit and/or…

Designer Nursery and Gorgeous Baby Bedding that we are GaGa over!

Good Morning!  So it has been a little while since my last post, lets see, 5 year old with a broken leg, and a 2 year old with a fever and horrible cough...It is amazing how quickly the days go by.

Anyway, just a quick note, as some of you might know, I have taken a step into the entrepreneurial world and have started 3 websites, the first one www.HarperGraceBaby.com And it has been so much fun I have to say and a real learning experience…

I Am the World's Worst Sperm Donor

I came across this story on the THE AWL and I have to say I did not think I was going to be able to finish reading it.  This guy was really pissing me off, how dare he call any children he creates “evil sperm children”!  As a matter of fact reading this story made me feel like puking, but luckily I was able to keep the vomit down and make it to the end where it turns out he was not such a bad guy after all and had some sense of the fact that perhaps he…

Where has the time gone? How do you prepare for kindergarten?

I am constantly amazed at how fast time is flying by. Especially now that I have children. It is incredibly hard for me because my oldest son will be registering for kindergarten soon...Where has the time gone? It was not too long ago that I was up all night with him just about every night for two years and working at a job outside of the home. How I wished for some rest...Then it happened, the night his new baby brother came home from the hospital (which happened to be my oldest…

My 80s Fro

Don't you just love how candid kids can be?  Especially when it comes at your own personal expense?  Just think how awesome it would be if, as adults, we could say exactly what we think and have people chuckle and say how darn cute we are.  Unfortunately, however, we'd most likely end up getting our asses kicked and be unfriended by every single person we know on Facebook.

Luckily, for my daughter, it's still pretty hilarious when she asks me why my boobs aren't "as big as…

A Day In NYC

We took the kids to NYC yesterday. We've never been as a family because the idea of taking three small children to the city drew strikingly similar fears to being covered in honey and laid over an ant hill.

But they're old enough now that we don't have to haul around strollers and diaper bags and 400 pounds of assorted travel necessities and since we had a free Saturday and we only live a short train ride away from the…

Q&A Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire

QUESTION

I have a very imaginative 8 year old boy who lies all the time. Sometimes it’s to get himself out of trouble, sometimes it’s just to add to the conversation as an “expert”.  How do I channel his imagination and need to be part of discussions in a positive way?

MY PERSPECTIVE

Imagination or no imagination, everyone lies at some point and the reasons for doing so are consistent.  Either we are trying to protect…

Teaching the ABCs: A Resource Guide

If you give a Lego box to one little boy, he'll most likely build something: a tower, a car, or even a spaceship. If you give a Lego box to my little boy, this is what he'll build:…

My Memories Suite Giveaway Post (It's not just for scrapbooking, but it does a super job on that too...)

I'm not a scrapbook artist, so digital scrap booking software isn't something that I have ever thought about using.  I am however, a creative person and I have been known to pop into a scrap booking shop to look at papers for use in some of my projects and in some of my art works. There are some pretty amazing…

Scoffing

Betty's first 'proper' dinner of actual food that adults eat. Blended up carrot and potato, with a splash of baby milk. Yum. She left some so I spread it on the toast I had for my dinner. Proper tasty. And no chewing. Bonus.

UPDATE: My piles have cleared up. Just one small, stubborn but utterly sumountable bubble remains. In case you were wondering.

Oh. Sorry Boo. You were…

Looking For A Good Book?

As you know, I've taken on reading as a part-time job.  My consumption of night time television comedies is at dangerously low levels because of this.  I actually missed "The Big Bang Theory" last week because of my reading! The humanity!

Tea Cakes

This is a wonderful thick cake like cookie. It is so simple to make especially if you have a stand mixer (which I did not use this time because I was to lazy to get it out). My hand mixer was really struggling by the time all the flour was added.

INGREDIENTS FOR 48 SERVINGS:

1 cup butter

2 cups sugar

2 tbs buttermilk

3 eggs

5 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking…

Strange Brew

Strange Brew

I'm not a big fan of the mall—mostly because I tend to have horrible experiences there.  I frequently get hoodwinked by enthusiastic salespeople who sell me junk I don't need and never use, and I have had enough dressing room blunders to write an entire book of anecdotes on fitting…
