The NHS has been facing ever-increasing pressures in recent years, with slashed budgets, staff shortages and lack of resources taking its toll on the quality of care. One of the many ways we commonly see the impact of these pressures is in waiting times for GP…

I went to visit the College of Charleston last weekend with my daughter and met a nice kid who recently moved to the area from the Northeast. A job opportunity brought him there which led us to a conversation on colleges. He's a recent graduate from James Madison University and is $50,000 in debt. His story is like a lot of kids' and they are questioning whether going to college is really worth it? According to the Project on Student Debt, the average debt carried by college grads…

Money Savvy Pig
Growing up, money was kind of a taboo topic in my household. We didn’t really talk about money at all to be honest. I have a vague recollection of an allowance, but I’m not sure if it was just given to me to spend or if I was encouraged to save? Either way, my husband and I have known from pretty early on that we wanted to be really open with our kids about money. You might recall a few months…

That cute face is why I got into a fight at the mall. And yes, as his shirt indicates, he was actually “dipped in handsome sauce”.
I took my three youngest kids for lunch at the food court in the local mall the other day. My toddler had a meltdown and was doing the high-pitched…

The hardest thing about being a parent of special needs children is…
Wow, I can’t tell you what the hardest thing is because it keeps changing. When it was just Elliott with her RAD, there was a small chance I could keep all the balls in the air. I had a fairly good handle on her current issues and how she was handling them. She has made great progress over the last 10 months, but she still has her moments.

This big old house is once more being put to the test as we have now started work on a new bathroom. Slowly but surely, I've been going through the place, renovating rooms and bringing back to life the ancient walls that once embraced a Georgian atmosphere.

When we are home I do not feed my children any white bread, flour, pasta, or rice. Since there is little nutritional value in enriched products, (it is enriched because everything nutritional was stripped then vitamins were added) I fail to see the point in feeding it to my family. I strive on giving them the finest whole grain organic fresh ingredients. Considering I don’t feed my family the above-mentioned food, why would I feed white rice cereal to my baby? I didn’t feed Baby Girl #1…

I started today too early, arising at 4:57am & it seemed to go downhill from there. Lost my patience with myself, lost my cool with my kids, screwed up a new crock-pot dinner, yada, yada, yada. So what is the success-formula for starting your day off wrong? 'Cause we don't get do-over's. And then we try to make-up to those we afflicted with pithy statements like, "I'm sorry I'm just having a bad day" Puh-lease! I'm wracking my brain wondering what…
