The Truth hurts?

When I was growing up we were always told to tell the truth. "Honesty is the best policy" or "If you tell the truth you won't get into trouble", my Dad would say. "Tell the truth and shame the devil" was another one.

That's Life

On Saturday evening, we welcomed two new additions to Jigsaw Farm. Twin lambs, both girls are doing fine, and mum, somewhat wary of our fascination towards her offspring, is on her guard. Ewes stamp their feet when a human gets too close, the obvious fear that her babies will be taken from her.

Heaven is for Real

Over the weekend I read a book. I had heard about it from my husband who had heard about it from a local radio station. While he told me about it, I got goosebumps. I was even more interested in learning more about it since the "characters" were from a town less than 30…

Blogging Basics

As I hop around the blogesphere, I look at a couple of different things that will help me decide if I want to follow a blog within the first couple of minutes. A quick list of 10 things that can bring you more followers or make folks rum from your blog never to return again.

1. Design ~ A clean design, with minimal distraction on the sidebars will bring you more followers. A good way to do this is to use pages to display your Awards, have an "about" and contact pages…

It sounds so simple, doesn't it? Just be nice

The light had barely changed from red to green when the lady in the car behind me laid on her horn. I wasn't daydreaming. I hadn't hesitated. I literally had just started shifting my foot from the brake to the accelerator. I was a little shaken.

Standing in the work cafeteria line, waiting to pay a bag of chips, I heard the man in front of me - the one wearing the $200 suit - let out a huge, wet-sounding belch. He glanced back at me and shrugged. No "sorry." No "excuse me." Nothing. I…

Healthy Organic Baking

Okay, guilty as charged. I often disguise healthy ingredients in my baking. But when you have finicky eaters at home you have to be creative! Here are some of my favorite ways to bake in a healthy and organic way.

Ditch the Veggie Oil
Heavily processed and little to no nutritional value. Swap it out for a healthy oil or ditch it all together. My favorite healthy oil is… Continue

Bollywood Princess!

Bollywood night is certainly a night to remember, no Men allowed... only Ladies! (too bad, no Shah Rukh Khan la!)

Actually, it has been a long time since I last attended any special function and this was my first time to attend a Bollywood and Arabian night.... all the glitters and shine!

Supposed to start off at 8pm, with red carpet lining from the pavement to the entrance, it was certainly very grand... When we reached there, there were… Continue

Another Mom Hat: High School Choice Researcher

We've come to that moment of parenthood that came much too quickly for my preference, but nevertheless, it's here. We are now looking into high schools for my first-born. I've always been a private-school, Catholic school kid & parent so now we're transitioning to the public school system. I've decided to go out of my comfort zone because we're fortunate to belong to an awesome school district with great high school pathway options. I've done some outside research & now it's a matter…

Motherhood is a Learning Journey

...This week has been a true test of my sheer will and strength as a mother--sending my 13-year-old, my first-born off on a 5-day retreat miles away, off the grid---no contact! It's been emotional--up & down--happy for him, worried for him, excited for him then missing him. Very much missing him.  And I survived. My Huz has survived (barely) & his younger brother (very bonded to him) also survived.  We missed him SO SO much!! But we love him and want him to experience…
