My kids are getting to that dreaded age where every flippin' weekend they beg for a sleepover. As soon as school gets out on Friday, they start hittin' me up for a party in their pj's. And I don't know about you, but I am not a big fan of the sleepover, mainly because it ends up biting ME in the ass the next day.
Now my son is not really the issue, since he…

If ‘Everyone’s a Winner,’ Does Anyone Really Win?
I have received one trophy in my 44 years — for winning the fourth-grade spelling bee at my elementary school. As I wistfully recall, I would have won the school-wide spelling bee too if my nervousness hadn’t gotten the better of me. In the final round, I transposed the letters “u” and “a” in “guard” (I still get a little insecure when I have to write or type that word).
I know it sounds silly, but I’m proud of my trophy. I won it for doing something better than anyone else (well, at…

A chilly rain was trickling down, and I was standing in the grass, watching as my son grabbed a bat and walked confidently to home plate. He'd been doing so well on his baseball league - I really had no reason to worry.
But suddenly, I was worried. Call it mother's intuition, call it a psychic flash. But suddenly, I saw in my mind's eye a baseball crashing into my little boy's face. It was so startling, I actually strode forward to the fence.
I was only a few seconds…

How do you fill your child's time
Time is a fickle thing- there is either too much or too little. It is not the amount of time that is really important, its how you spend it and who you spend it with. In a time where our society's parents are running around taking their kids to one event after another, or signing them up for more extracurricular activities than there is time in the day, I have to stop and wonder; are we leaving something out?
Signing…

Bamboo? To wear or not to wear? A Baby clothing must have?
Bamboo fabric has a natural sheen and softness that feels and drapes like silk but is less expensive and more durable.
Bamboo clothing is easy to launder in a clothes washer and dryer.
Because of the smooth and round structure of its fibers, bamboo clothing is soft and non-irritating, even to sensitive skin. Some people with chemical sensitivities can not tolerate bamboo…

My Love Affair With Trash
I love to shop as much as the next woman, but since I am back to staying at home, I really don't want to be spending the extra money by shopping until I drop. Well, at least not by going to shopping malls and paying full price- I can certainly do without that. While I often shop at stores like Marshall's and TJ Maxx, sometimes it makes more sense to save even more money. And we all like to…

Grayson Walker and Facebook
Heather’s pictures of her littlest love, her sweet boy were tasteful. They were not posted for shock value. They were not violent. There was no nudity, or pornographic images. There was not hate speech, or insulting language. Just pictures of a sweet little boy and mourning, joyous parents. Facebook did remove the ban, but it was after pressure from the public! Facebook take care when you use your policies, this feels very much as if someone in charge was feeling a little “icky” at…
