I am usually very good at baking buns, biscuits etc but I had a mishap yesterday. So to avoid my mistake I send out this very clear warning.
DO NOT! and I repeat DO NOT! mix up your baking powder with bicarbonate of soda or else this may happen:
to see the result!!!

This is how a conversation with myself went....about a villain in one of my little stories. It's interesting how I manage to argue myself out of writing anything bad about ANYBODY in the story. But if I don't, the story would be utterly, positively and irrefutably BORING.
You can't write that! The poor girl is just too nice to be injured like that.
OK, I'll write off the guy who spat the gum on the side of the road then.…

I know I may be alone on this but is anyone else fed up with and disgusted by reality shows?? I feel like if I watch a show of a family exposing themselves to the world, I am contributing to the downfall of the children. Are all of those kids destined to the scary child star fate that has destroyed the lives of so many young and famous?
What do you think? http://tinyurl.com/realityshowsyuck

Moms and Grams teaching kids working is for a long time
My daughter has seven children five grandchildren and she’ll be 43 August which makes me a mom gram and great grandmother I’ll be 63 this July. Over the last 22 years it has taxed my responsibilities while being fair to each child and I tell my daughter it’s not easy being grandmother to so many children when you want to give each child a special part of you however we’ve managed which brings me to William my 14 year old… Continue

I have been divorced for over 2 years now. My son and I are quite close, but I had to do the hardest thing when I got divorced... I had to leave.
My ex-husband wanted the divorce and even wanted full custody. I did not allow it and went for joint custody. The problem was that when the divorce was going on, I was only 6 months into trying to get back on my feet. My ex wanted me to pay half of the house bills when he made 2 times more (nearly 50K). The other part was catching up to old… Continue

A new study
was just released yesterday in the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine sheds more light on the research showing a relationship between young children's exposure to TV and their language development. A leading researcher in the field, Dimitri Christakis, studied 329 children aged 2 months to 4 years old. Using a very creative study method, he and his collegues had the children wear small digital… Continue

I said in my intro blog that it would be difficult to come up with new posts for this one in addition to what I post on my other blog. Well, maybe I'll just use this one as my "let it all out" outlet.
The thing on my mind today is co-parenting. We are a blended family. I have two kids, my hubby has one, and we are having our first one together in September. I had my first two kids when I was really young, and they have different dads. I was married to one of the dads for 8 years… Continue

What is more symbolic of summer than a barefoot child and a fishing rod? Even if your kids have never put worms on a hook (or aren't likely to wait patiently for a bite), the kicked-back mood of the angler is contagious now that the end of school is in sight. To get ready for the relaxation and recreation we all crave this time of year, we turned to a 1993 adaptation of Mark Twain's great American novel, The Adventures of Huck Finn, starring Elijah… Continue

On the face of it this may seem like a silly question. I think most parents would say something along the lines of their goal being to raise a happy, healthy, kind child that can function independently in the world as an adult. Depending on your particular beliefs, aspects of religious, spiritual, or moral teaching may be part of your answer as well. I raise this question after reading an interesting… Continue

Some days, you'd think my blog was sponsored by Trojan. But this occasional venting in no way means I regret becoming a mom. I knew from the day I tossed my Pill pack that sacrifices would be part of the deal. And I also know plenty of women who'd give their front teeth to only have it so easy.
I wear my hairy legs and deflated boobs proudly, and here's why:
1. Any given day, I can handle a thousand micro-crises and be ready for more before my childless counterparts--hell,… Continue

Hello Mom Bloggers!
I haven't belonged to a blogging network site like this before. I hope to make some friends and gain some followers for my blog. I will admit it will be difficult for me to come up with separate blogs for this than the one I already do.
I think the thing I like about blogging is that I can share my ideas with my friends and family that I may not get to talk to very often. I like being able to inform others about me. Understanding goes a long way when… Continue
