Being Single Again...

How am I coping?

This is the question I am often asked these days.... my answer is "So far, I am still fine..."

Life is slightly different... a month ago, my routine has changed, especially towards the evening.  Nowadays I spend more time facing two "Square Boxes"... one Big and one smaller in size... my two eyes will be facing my faithful laptop and my two ears will be listening to the Chinese drama showing on Astro....

On some evenings, I will take…

Refreshment

At the end of a long, hard day there's nothing like the sound of a running stream, or crashing waves upon the sand.

What is it about water? The sound is so.....refreshing......the taste is the same.......refreshing....

Jesus offers us living water (John 4:10). He IS the living water.

If the taste and sound of physical water can sooth our minds and hearts. Can you imagine how our souls can be refreshed with Jesus the living water?

He…

Girls' Night Out Gone Wrong

This past weekend, some girlfriends and I had organized a fun night out in downtown Chicago.  No husbands, no kids, just us girls kickin' it in the city.  Unfortunately, though, our whole night was planned around a godforsaken musical that we'd bought tickets to see on LivingSocial.  It was called, "Girls Night: The Musical" and promised to be a super fun mix of…

Disney Overload

Too much Disney....While getting dressed this morning, I was on auto-pilot.
"Arms up, Henry. Time to lift your shirt off."
Henry obligingly raises his
arms and then starts laughing.
Henry: Mama! Lookit! I'm like
CINDERLLA!

Yeah, sure- he kind of did look like that scene where she puts
her arms up as she gets her ballgown.

I wonder....does that make me the
fairy godmother?

Baby Bird

Henry was doing his "baby-bird" impression this morning while I was eating
breakfast. When I gave in and gave him a bite of my Strawberry Frosted
mini-wheats, he screwed up his face.

"Ugh! I don't like the HAIRY parts!
I like da FROSTING!"

Life's not all frosting, buddy

Snake in the Grass

I took Henry to our family farm this weekend so Dada could have some

"quiet-time" and so Papa could have some time with his grandson. Two birds with

one stone. Excellent.

The truth is, I love to see Henry, decked out in

his ripped & torn "barn jeans" and John Deere-green hat that says "Future

Farmer," trudging down the lane between the farmhouses or stalking across the

hayfields.

He's just so determined to "help" on the farm and I love how he…

God's Treasure Chest

I was reading "All Things Bright & Beautiful" by Herriot while putting Henry to bed tonight and got to the part about this being the best time in your life and you don't realize it. When your children are young and all the wonderful

discoveries and pure joy that can be found amidst the sleep deprivation, revolving diaper changes and temper tantrums.

I just HAD to hug Henry then and I said, "Thank you God for my son" and absolutely, whole-heartedly meant it right then. Henry…

How Boys Do

Only having a sister growing up, I knew absolutely nothing about little boys. I remember holding Jonathan for the first time and thinking, "I'm not sure what to do with this handsome little love." It took only a few seconds for me to be smitten. There is something so special about my little boys and they completely have my heart.

I have learned so much from them and I feel like…

Spoke Too Soon

Ok yeah. I take it back. I absolutely didn't mean it. And now it's come to bite me on the bum.

The Poop's hatred of Being Still, in just the last twenty four short hours, has DEVELOPED.

When Betty gets out of the bath in the evening, there are always low level grumbles. As you dress her in pyjamas for bed, there are a few slightly more disgruntled protestations, and occasionally, if you're being too slow, you may experience a few whinges as she waits for her supper. But other than…

If your kids aren't headed off to summer camp this year, you might be stumped as to what to possibly do to keep them entertained and keep you sane. And unfortunately where I live, fun, cultural and educational activities are rare jewels, so we typically have to venture off at least an hour to enjoy ourselves. But don't be discouraged if you live in Small Town, NC like me; North Carolina is chock full of other destinations that are well worth the travel time. I've…

Career Versus Stay at Home Mom

Many women are faced with the dilemma of having a successful career and becoming a stay-at-home mom. I was watching this particular show and the mother had a comment about that very topic. She had made the decision to come home to be with her child and she said she was afraid. She had gotten so adjusted to working professionally and was not sure how she would adjust.

Women who have decided to postpone their career and become stay-at-home moms have found this choice to be very…
