Same room; different content

Last week, I was wondering how old my son will be when he gets his first smartphone. My husband and I still haven't decided the right age, but agree that it will be when he has reached the right balance of personal responsibility and social need. (We want him to understand the consequences of having the device, but don't want him to be the only…

Want To Know More About The Benefits Of Botox Treatments?

In 2012, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, cosmetic procedures like Botox injections accounted for 73 percent of all procedures performed by plastic surgeons, and with every passing year, that number has increased by a significant percentage. "The talk"

So I had THE question asked of me by my 6 year old daughter. You know the one, the one that turned me into a awkward and uncomfortable teenager. "Mommy, how does the baby get in a Mommy's belly?" She asks me while we are drawing at the art table. Her brothers were napping, so this Mommy and daughter bonding just took a whole big turn.

I panicked, what do I say? What is age appropriate? I want to give her the right…

Telling tales at home

I'm big on people having hobbies. Things that they enjoy outside of work and parenthood. They provide great examples of "parents are people too" to our children (or grandchildren). And hopefully these hobbies are activities which can…

Making Old Toys New

When I found out my first child was a boy, the response from everyone was, “Uh oh! You are gonna be busy. Boys are active.” I thought to myself, “Good. It will probably help me to lose some of this baby weight I’ve gained.” It wasn’t until around the time Joshua turned one that I could really see what everyone was talking about.

One Saturday, it was just Joshua and…

Currently Totally Obsessed With....Childrens Ikea

Before I had Olive, I remember being completely overwhelmed every time I went to Ikea. Maybe it was the fact that I only went during the weekends (when all of Los Angeles decided to do their Ikea shopping), but I remember never wanting to step foot in that big, blue building.

Recently, however, I’ve been taking Olive to…

Go away so you can miss me

When I was little, my summers were filled with camp. Every spring, my Mom and I would go through the Girl Scout catalog of upcoming camps and choose the ones I would attend. The themes ran the gamut from Teddy Bear camp to Dance camp and to Bike and Boating camp. Here's the important part: All the camps were sleep-away and most were for at least a week.

And camping…

It's Not Their Fault...It's YOURS!!!

It’s really easy to blame your child when their behavior is less than stellar.  Right now in my house, my seven year old and five year old seem to feel they are entitled to everything and anything.  I have given them the “you need to be grateful for everything you have” speech, along with the “you need to earn these things, not just expect them” speech, and the ever popular, “money doesn’t grow on trees” talk.  I constantly feel like a broken record and after pondering why my words of wisdom…
