Take It To The Bridge

You may have noticed from my recent ranting that I've been letting the NYC heat and humidity get to me. Whilst I still heart NY, I've not been loving what the weather has been doing to my legs or my spirits. Running has become both a challenge and a chore lately, as you may be aware if you follow …

I've Cheated Myself By Not Commenting

When I started blogging 4 years ago I thought of my action of sharing family stories was solitary.  I enjoyed writing about the silly things my little ones did and that was that.  I was my own Erma Bombeck (if you're too young to know who I'm talking about Google her, she was fantastic).  Then, I started to receive comments from... strangers.  I was actually a little scared.  My reaction didn't really make much sense since I was…

Two Ships Passing In The Night...

Last weekend I got the most amazing pregnancy gift ever! I got a pregnancy pillow! Oh yes, it is amazing. A couple week's before that I got a body pillow, but it just didn't help as much and every time I had to turn over, I had to haul the body pillow to the other side. I'm a turner in the middle of the night, especially with sciatica. So having my friend give me this wonderful amazing pillow really has helped me sleep better.…

Katy Perry + Smurfs = ?

The Smurfs premiered this past Friday with $36.2 million dollars in ticket sales. I haven't yet seen the movie, but I plan to. It sounds like a cute revisit to my 1980's childhood, where Saturday morning channels rotated between Smurfette, the Care Bears and Fat Albert. And when I say "rotated", I mean that literally. We didn't have remote controls.…

The Resident Worrywort Deals With The Unknown

Yup, thats me I am the main worrywort in my family.  It is an exhausting job let me tell you.  I worry from the moment I wake up until the moment I go to sleep.  That is if I am able to fall asleep.  I told you I am a night owl, which is probably not good for a worrywort...because the most worrying thoughts happen in the darkness of night.

Over the years I have been taught ways to keep my worrying under control, but it definitely creeps back up.  After having my daughters it became much…

The Camp Chronicles

Sending your ten year old off to sleep away camp for the first time is rather comparable to a new pregnancy. After all, everyone has advice both good and bad, most people think they know more than you, and anticipation, doubt and nervousness are the emotions du jour. Throw in weight gain, breakouts, sleeplessness and lethargy, and I could be pregnant, or I’m just reacting to a difficult transition (trust me…it’s option #2. Option #1 would be a very different blog post).

It’s funny,… Continue

New Political Thriller Hits the Stands

The next presidential election is getting near… and handsome, charismatic Senator Howard Stark wants to become president. There’s only one problem: He’s possessed by Sargatanas, a powerful demon who wants to unleash all evil on earth. To make things worse, Stark’s assistant happens to be a malevolent, highly-intelligent practitioner of the black arts, and she’ll stop at nothing to get what she… Continue

Mad About Melons

As I have mentioned numerous times, I have a rather large garden this summer.  Besides growing tomatoes, cucumbers, corn and basil, a quarter of my garden is being taken over by watermelon.  A small part of the watermelon patch was planned, but the rest is all due to volunteerism.

There are two varieties of watermelon in my patch, black diamonds, and the old fashioned striped variety…all with seeds.  I love watermelon and I frequently buy melons in the summer, but I don’t like the…
