Hoping My Hard Work Pays Off

So sometimes being a primarily 1 income family is rough. It really is. I do make an income from watching children. I adore these kids. They are so fun to be with. I have been the care taker for one boy since he was 12 weeks old and he's almost the same age as my son who is 18 months old. You get attached to their little faces and their little antics. Please stop asking, I do not WANT a girl, OK?!

Not that I don’t want a girl ever, just that I am not pinning for a girl. People so easily assume that because you have two boys you MUST want a girl.…

All I Know

I don't blog about my marriage. It was kind of an understanding we made back in the beginning. My husband read a few posts and thought he looked pretty bad, so he asked that I don't bring him in if I don't have to. I respect that and really try to keep him out. Try being the operative word.

But tonight something happened that was.... profound, if you will, that caused me to take pause. Ask questions. Complete thoughts.

I was playing outside in the back with my girls. It is… Continue

Operation Christmas Child with Samaritan's Purse

I love my freebies. All year long I fill out freebie requests on line, stashing them away as soon as they hit my mailbox. I also buy & save little toys I find on clearance (after holiday sales at Target ROCK). Every year my family packs & decorates several shoe boxes for…

Take A Child Outside Week

Friday kicked off the "Take a Child Outside" Week. There were a lot of activities around the area, but unfortunately, we weren't able to participate. We were outside for a large part of the weekend, but we weren't exactly communing with nature. Instead, our weekend was filled with sports: my race (got 2nd in my age group!), Shoo's soccer class, Jones' soccer game, and the Nationals' game. I love the fall and I love getting outside and hiking and… Continue

Your Baby & Your Single Friends Don't Mix

This past Sunday I had brunch with a single friend of mine. My husband

was out of town so the baby had to come along. Which, in fairness to my

friend, she had no problem with. We arranged to meet at noon at The Smith

which is one of the few places in the East Village that is large enough

to accommodate a stroller. (Especially since Mazzy's ride is the… Continue

How am I supposed to eat all those fruits and vegetables?

http://bit.ly/95ZDKoGovernment recommendations say that adults should consume at least two to four servings of fruits a day and three to five servings of vegetables. Yet less than a third of us consume even those lower limits. How exactly are you supposed to get all that produce into your life? Here are some of our favorites. (And why don’t you tell us some… Continue

Misplaced Mom

I have been misplaced by a weak economy – trapped in a small house with three children, stripped of my self-worth and blind folded to any clear direction. Though I have been a stay-at-home mom for nine years, five of them have been spent trying to build a career. Unlike most moms I didn’t choose to be a stay-at-homer; I was cast into the role when the $800 a month daycare bill was pushing us toward the poorhouse. Since landing this role I have been fighting to eke out a…

Going Green

I just received an email asking me whether I felt my readers where eco-friendly inclined. I dare to say that our generation, and the new generations, are starting to become more eco-friendly. Maybe some more than others, but it is a start, right?

At home we do what we can, like:

  • We do not have a car...but this one was more of an accident that totaled our beloved Audi! We lost our car back in March and now we carpool with my mother in law whenever we need to go somewhere.…
