Newbie needing direction of getting traffic up!

I started a blog at www.victorialauring.blogspot.com. I wanted to see if any experienced mommy bloggers can give me the snap shot of how to get the traffic going to the blog and get companies to have me review their product. Hoping to eventually generate a little income on the side. I have written articles for local and national trade publications so that is the easy part. I have also been in the maternity and baby industry as both a etailer, boutique owner, buyer and designer of a product… Continue

The problem with the rural, rural area I live is not enough nice toy stores, you know besides cheap plastic things from Walmart.

So I have found some really great natural, creative, innovative toy and book shops online. They have great stuff!

Ranting, husband, i-pod, lifelesson, child

Well, my rant from the other day has come to a happy resolution.

Before I go any further....I must clarify. I did not intend to paint my amazing, handsome, incredible, smart, dashing, sophisticated, loving, caring, considerate, awesome, dapper.....(KISS!KISS!) husband in a poor light. He truly is amazing and went the extra mile to help our daughter recover her losses. After the emotional dust of me going into fighting mode for my daughter, we calmly discussed many options about how… Continue

Simple Memories.

One of my favorite memories of fall from my childhood is coming home from school one day and seeing the our house turned into a festive Halloween spectacular.

My family had never really decorated for Halloween before. We always went trick-or-treating, but the whole Halloween scene was not really our thing as a family. We dressed up as angels, fairies, rag-dolls; things that were fun but not scary. Ghoulish garb and horror based themes just didn't sit well with three girls growing up… Continue

Making Soap the Old-fashioned Way is a Family Tradition for Local Business Woman

Making Soap the Old-fashioned Way is a Family Tradition for Local Business Woman

Everything old is new again for one local business woman. After leaving a career in sales and marketing to become a full-time homemaker, Rachael , Raleigh became serious about soap-making. This is the story of how one family's generational stories brought a renewed interest in making all-natural soap the old-fashioned way.

Most people use soap products several times a day to wash hands or to bathe… Continue

It's that time of year again.....

AAHHH!

This Sunday, at 2:00 in the morning, American's will turn their clocks back by one hour.

While the thought of getting an extra hour of sleep may seem appealing to many of us, turning clocks back does have some drawbacks.

~ If you are like us, and have more than one watch, it can be hard to remember which watch you already adjusted the time for. This can result in being an hour early or an hour late to your appointments.

~ Do you still have a VCR? Yep,… Continue

Do you think that breast fed children are better behaved?

There is a study out of the department of psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital that says that parents of youngsters who were breast-fed as infants were less likely to report that their child had a behavior problem or psychiatric illness during the first five years of life. The study goes on to say that the likelihood of mental health issues decreased in… Continue

Alarm or not to Alarm?

I started setting an alarm clock for my 1st grader and it was working like a charm. If we set out her clothes the night before she would wake to the music, put her clothes on and come down for breakfast. Could I ask for more at 7:15 AM?

Before the alarm clock it was about 5 minutes of me rubbing her back and talking to her to try to get her to wake up, and not be a total grump. She‘s just not a morning person. I’m sure she’ll do great in college when she wants to stay up until 2 AM.… Continue

Considering Cord Blood Banking?

I recently had my 4th child in April and started to do research on cord blood banking. I was amazed on how far technology has come with stem cells. With this being my last baby, I owed to myself and my family to do more research. I personally decided to bank Caleb's cord blood as a insurance policy for my family. I learned so much about ViaCord, I decided to become part of the Parent Educator Network. As a PEN mom, I go out and educate other pregnant couples on cord blood… Continue
