Are men more lonely?

Sometimes when I see my son playing by himself in his room on a Saturday afternoon, I stand in the doorway and ask him a very complex question:

Are you lonely?…

Paying off Debt

I know when you are in debt, it can be difficult to face the numbers.  I know people who will not open their mail, who just throw their bills in a drawer where they cannot be seen.

I have felt the pressure of debt, avoiding the numbers will not make it go away, or make you feel the burden any less.  I know what it is like to lay in bed thinking about your debt, wondering if you made a payment, thinking about extra fees.  You will find if you write it out and are at…

Easy One Pan Chicken Meal

With working, chauffeuring, play dates, school and fun, there is never enough time to fit everything in.  I do love to cook and test out new recipes, however some nights I need quick, easy and not take out.  Which is one reason why I LOVE my crockpot.  However, I am always up for giving it a night off and trying something new.  I was drawn to this recipe as it is quick, easy, healthy, all in one and no fuss.  It is a full meal in one pan, only a few ingredients, that you cover toss in the…

Multi-Topic or Single-Topic Blog: Which is Best for You?

Whether you’re starting a new blog or revamping your current one, the first question you need to ask yourself is—what will my blog be about? Many people choose to create single-topic or niche blogs centered on one particular topic (for example: Dessert First,…

I AM YOUR SUPERWOMAN! Uhmm… whatever your name is.

Black_Superwoman

I am convinced that God’s exchange for “Mommy Brain” (That weird hormone that is release during pregnancy), is that we now have unexplained super powers. Go ahead and laugh… Let me explain what I mean.

I didn’t understand this when I was a kid, but the signs were there with my mom and…

Bad mom days

If your kids are past infancy and you've never had a bad mom day, I can't be friends with you. I just can't. It will never work. You are not from this planet, and I think it's best for my kids if I don't bring extra terrestrials around.

I mean every sane person has a bad mom day.

If you're here on earth, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Sometimes it starts from the moment you wake up. Other times if creeps up on you around noon. Everything everyone is saying is…

Preparing for Labor and Delivery: Newborn Babies Make the Pain Totally Worth It

There’s this big part of getting ready for labor and delivery that a lot of us forget – or just don’t know how – to do. I’m completely guilty of it. When I was pregnant with Ricky, I got prepared in the normal ways that you think of getting ready for the hospital: touring the facility, registering in advance, packing my hospital bag. But that didn’t really eliminate the anxiety that kept creeping in as we got closer and closer to my delivery date.

Fear of Delivery

I was…

I Want A New Drug

Some people say you should write what you know. It makes sense, doesn’t it? After all, you can deliver a more compelling story if you’re familiar with the subject.

My editor told me from day one to expand out of my comfort zone and do just the opposite.

When I wrote Unlikely Venture, I had a storyline in my head. Okay, that's not exactly true. I had about a HUNDRED stories in my head before landing on the ONE, and even then I flip-flopped around until I landed on the…

Seminars and Classes

This post is to encourage you to avail yourself to seminars, conferences and classes.  I know it costs money to attend and it takes planning for your family and sometimes rearranging schedules.  We need to recognize the need for concentrated growth in our lives.  Just like vacation time is important to relax and refocus our lives at times.  Times of investing in the Word of God, and classes/seminars that better our lives are necessary.  It is nice to go to a one day class, but there is a…

Halloween- Trick-or-Treat One Friend Over Another.

Hi Mommies!

Halloween is about two days away!!  Do we have our costumes?  My 4.5 year old daughter is going as Snow White and she is excited.  Katelyen; Kate( when I try to bribe her) doesn't really get the Halloween scary aspects yet and she slightly fears the ghouls and goblins, ghost and scary pumpkin faces.  At this point dressing up as one of the Princesses and going Trick-or-Treating with friends is exciting and a ton of fun.  Honestly, I want her to remain innocent…

Potty Training: Finding Middle Ground Between “Ready” and “Pulling Your Hair Out”

There is no roadmap

There is so much that people don’t tell you before you have kids. For the most part, I’ve been ok with this collective omission, with one major exception: potty training.

No one ever mentioned, even hinted at the horrors that awaited me with potty training.  I had two difficult birth experiences, a hard time with breast feeding my first, and 20 plus weeks of hormone injections with my second and nothing, nothing comes close to the misery…
