Fun Fact Friday

Oh my goodness! TGIF! It's time for my weekly fun fact!

Today's fun fact is that my husband doesn't have a middle name.

Most people, well at least where we're from, have a middle name. In fact Rudy is the first person I've ever met that didn't have one. If you asked him why he would tell you:

We were too poor. We couldn't afford one.

Greening from the ground up

Raising your child to appreciate the natural life is not as easy as one would expect. In our society we have become addicted to chemicals and convenience. I have no doubt that this addiction, like any, will be the one to do us in. It's sad but true that advertising companies begin targeting your child as young as one and that by three they will be able to recognize the majority of brands and start asking for them. My child has never set foot inside a Wal-Mart and has eaten at McDonald's twice… Continue

From the files of what not to post on YouTube and how to NOT raise your toddlers.

Recently, YouTube pulled a video over public outrage. The video featured two toddlers beating the heck out of one another. The person filming it was a father of one of the toddlers.

This gets worse, according to media reports, he was a soldier in the Army Special Operations Command. The video, thank goodness is being investigated because it was made at Fort Bragg.

As outrageous as this may seem, this is obviously not the first video of it's kind to pop up on… Continue

my grass . . .

It's true that the grass is always greener on the other side. I know this but sometimes you have to experience it for yourself, right? I definitely will appreciate being "just a mom" more now after a brief fling with a kind of job. A fling that left me feeling used, abused and lied to!

Anyway, I love hanging out with the kiddos and having nothing more in life to do but take care of them. Who needs money anyway? I need to suffer with the others in this piss poor economy! So, look for more… Continue

10 minutes

remember that book "5 minutes peace"? I think it had a mama elephant? all the kids thought it was SO FUNNY - mm hmmm so get it now don't we?

Yeah, so lets see, I sewed Lyons her jumper (jumping dress she calls it) Tuesday and began cutting out the fleece jacket that goes with it. Today I was helper mom in Lyons's preschool class: 9-12 with 15 three year olds. Bless their teacher! Had lunch with Daddy at the Thai Restaurant, and now the little ones are crashed out. JOY!

So...… Continue

Consistency with Children

What's up with the road signs? No, I'm not getting desperate for pictures.

I put these up because there's a street in my town that has both of these signs on it. Going east is the 35 mph sign. Going west is the 25 mph sign. Talk about confusing!! And, of course, which one do I want to follow? You guessed it! The 35 mph sign!

What happens to our kids when we're not consistent? First, they're confused. Which one do I follow? Secondly, they will most likely follow the one… Continue

look at that list

That's a really long list. Maybe I'll take things off instead of just crossing them off. I'm tracking everything on my blog anyway. Hmm.

Heard any good music lately?? I obsessing over Darren Hayes. Go figure!

Going Back to my Roots

back-to1 I am ready to release. I am ready to tell my side if anyone cares. What happened? Why did I banish Twitter? Because this weekend I saw something that shook me to my core. In one split second I saw the community I love turn into something I didn't like. It hurt to watch. It was like a complete separation of what was and what could be. And I freaked.

When I came into this community seven months ago I… Continue

Volunteer stressed? How to say no.

We have all be there before. Someone asks us to volunteer for something that we have no time to do or have no knowledge about but, we say yes anyway. PTA's are notorious for this. Trust me, I know. They never lose a phone number.

The problems begin when something has to give because the day is only 24 hours long. Either your family gets neglected and you hear about it or you do a crappy job and everyone else thinks you're incompetent.

What do you… Continue

The Babywearing Fools. By Mama Seuss

Wear you, wear you, in the house

Wear you, wear you, will my spouse.

Through the mall and on a ship,

In a sling or by my hip.

At a party, in the kitchen.

Babywearing sure is bitchin'.

Wear you, wear you, here or there

I will wear you everywhere.

Auntie wears you in a pack,

Daddy wears you on his back.

Mommy wears you where you'll fit,

Standing up, or when I sit.

Snuggled close up to my chest,

Babywearing is the… Continue

Just one night, maybe two.

I experienced about 10 leg cramps last night. If it wasn't 10, it sure felt like it.

Every single time I stood up to get rid of the cramp I would have to go potty.

Then, I couldn't get comfortable when I went back to bed because I was trying to avoid moving in such a way that would cause another cramp.

I realized that all this must prepare you for when you have to get up with your baby after you have them.

Ok. God, I realize you made us this way and… Continue

Ten Websites I Could Never Live Without

I have to tell you that the internet is probably the greatest invention in our, or at least my, lifetime. It is something that I need on a daily basis. The internet allows us to communicate, bank, go to school, research, and so much more.

There are certain sites that I could not live without. I will attempt to limit my list to 10.

1. Not to sound like a kissass but, I have really enjoyed this community here at the Mom Bloggers Club.It is my favorite mom-bonding… Continue

Lady The Ladybug

So I have a little story to share with you in regards to the re-design of this website. The other day in the middle of designing a new banner I became frustrated. I decided to take a break and I walked upstairs, grumbling to myself about the lack of good ladybug pictures on the internet.

I passed by a window, looked out, and found myself eye to eye with an actual ladybug on the glass.

It was as if the web design gods where looking down at me and smiling. I swear I even… Continue
