Patiently Waiting

So, I am 37 weeks pregnant now and I am "patiently" awaiting the arrival of baby number 4.

I am going through all the nesting phase and I am trying to make sure everything is in order.

Why is it that the last month of pregnancy is spent being so anxious to meet your little one? Other than being uncomfortable all the time, it is torture sometimes wanting for it to all be over with. But it isn't over with. Oh, no. It is just the beginning. I know...I have done it three times… Continue

Fun Fact Friday

Today's fun fact is that I am a seatbelt Nazi. If you ride in my car you WILL wear your seatbelt. Front seat, back seat, doesn't matter. If you don't wear your belt, I don't drive the car - simple as that. If we start moving down the road and I realize you aren't wearing your seatbelt I will first ask you nicely to put it on. If you think I'm joking you will soon find out that I'm not when I pull the car over and refuse to budge until you buckle up.

Unless I'm in a bad mood. Then I… Continue

Hmmm resurecting my online self

Been a bit "out of the loop" as they say.
The whole "blog smackdown thing" with the company sort of set me back and then there has been lots of real life lack of time and thought - nothing like tryong to blog absolutely exhausted - nothing intelligent comes out of my brain - and I really hate sticking to the "me and the kids" topics. I mean, as one of my topics sure, but not as the only one! So anyway - slowly trying to get myself back in the game. Hope everybody has been well!

My favorite Sink Strainer

Ok so I got a new sink strainer and I love it!! Absolutely love it. See my ordinary metal one broke and it was a pain. When I needed it to strain it wouldn't work. When I had to empty it out in the garbage it was a big to do.

Well I found a sink strainer made by OXO. It is silicone and the best thing about it: It si so simple to clean out. Just push it through until the one side pops out.

Love doing the dishes and cleaning the… Continue

how's your needless consumption? gifts for kids

This is my one and only post plugging something for the holidays…I think.

My daughter turned three last week, and there was a decision to be made: presents or no presents. Call me the grinch or any other name you come up with - but my kids have enough toys. Not only that, but they don’t even understand presents, or birthdays, yet.

Why would we teach them that birthdays and holidays are about getting crap they don’t… Continue

That's HOT

I have to let my male readers in on a secret. A secret that is so intriguing to most men that as women we each take a pledge that we will rarely discuss this topic with you. This secret is usually reserved for "Girls Night Out" or other similar girls only events. For example group trips to the bathroom. As a man you might wonder why we can't manage to go tinkle alone, and finally I'm going to give you one of the many reasons....

Is it okay for kids to lie?

I always stressed the truth while raising my children. As a matter of fact, if they did something wrong, as long as they would tell me the truth about it, they would most likely not get into trouble. I always figured that they would face the consequences of their actions anyway.

The one thing I could never tolerate is lying.

Was I wrong?

I just read an article, "Why Kids Lie-An… Continue

The bucket and the mop

(The names and dates in this post have been changed to protect the identity of Sophie's classmates.)

Today when I picked Sophie up from school I saw something no parent ever wants to witness: a bucket and mop outside of the classroom.

"No, no, NO!" I thought to myself. I usually walk to her class to pick her up and made my approach… Continue

Promote Blog Peace!

I as well as several other girls have posted a post encouraging bloggers to let go of the drama.

I started blogging because it was my escape and fun to do and I have noticed lately there is more and more "drama" going on in blog land, bloggers bashing bloggers, making friends choose and it is just something that sickens me.

Blogging is a place for us to go and meet new people, learn about each other, encourage each other not a place that we should tear each other… Continue

Living in a "Green Neighborhood" can keep your weight down.

There is a new study out that says Children living in city neighborhoods with higher "greenness" ratings seem to gain less weight over time than their counterparts living in areas with less green space.

In the study, from the University of Washington in Seattle, followed more than 3,800 low income mainly African American children, 3 to 16 years old, who resided at… Continue
