OK so I finally gave in a bought some of these boogies wipes for children for runny noses and such, especially good when they have a cold. I have heard good things about them and since I have so much trouble getting my toddler to wipe and or blow her nose I thought i would give them a try. Well i got to say I love them. My daughter hates when her nose…Continue

Before Halloween was over and Thanksgiving was even here, stores like Target were already adorning themselves in holiday products, which frankly really irritates me. To be candid, I kind of hate Christmas. My husband and I are devout atheists, and despite our efforts to persuade our kids that Christmas is about being with family, our nearly 6-year-old twins have figured out that it’s really all about the presents. Furthermore, their birthday is Dec. 20, five days before Santa is supposed to…Continue

A new study has found that women who co-sleep with their babies are possibly more prone to stress than those who don't.
I co-slept with both of my kids, and I could not disagree more.
According to a Fox News article, "Breastfeeding and co-sleeping with baby affects mom's welfare," the study followed 195 women in a Chicago suburb for six months…Continue

My husband made the greatest purchase of our lives last weekend when he found this Pokemon Monopoly game at a garage sale for a dollar.
Did you catch that? It's a Monopoly game about POKEMON!! And my kids are only ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED with…Continue

No matter what type or color of hair you have, one thing is universal: hydration is key. It’s also the one thing that’s overlooked by most women! There are a few ways that you can make sure your hair stays moisturized throughout the driest months of the year. One way is to sleep with conditioner in your hair once a week – just rinse it out in the morning and you’ll have silky soft hair. To be honest though – that’s a little time intensive, especially when…Continue

One of the joys of, well, all of my pregnancies is that I organize and re-organize everything. Tell me you’re the same way, yes? During my last ‘nesting session’, I hit the toy room, purged lots of toys and re-organized everything. My head was spinning with options as to what to do with all of their toys and…Continue

A single glove in the road - easily explained. A pair of shoes - sure, there could be reasons.
But a solitary brogue? On a dual carriage-way? Or, on occasion, on A MOTORWAY?
Nah. I don't get it.

** My kids think Santa can make ANYTHING, which means that I am totally and completely SCREWED.
** "Customer" and "service" are two words that, sadly, don't belong together anymore.
** Static electricity is a very unfortunate side effect of Winter.

I don’t think I’ve ever told ya’ll about the “deal” that Ricky and I made waaaay back last winter when we first found out that we were having a baby. Lucy was still a wee pup and we were talking about potentially moving to a small farm just outside of the city. The whole “small farm” thing might sound funny if you don’t already know the back story – let me give you the short version: Ricky wanted a horse. And a pair of reindeer – basically so that he could build a sleigh for…Continue

1. It snowed. Seriously – Monday morning there was snow covering my yard. I was freaking out a little – because of the whole we-do-snow-removal thing. And the fact that plows haven’t been checked, tires need to be swapped and all that jazz. I talk about these things like I actually do them myself. Oh no – that “we” is loosely used: the hubs runs the snow. I offer emotional/administrative/website support. I know that you might…Continue

My daughter sent me a text message on her way home from school, don’t worry she isn’t texting and driving, and said “guess what”. As a parent, I was thinking the worst. She said she was given a “baby doll”. I automatically knew that she was given a “real baby” simulator to take care of for a few days. Read more at: Uplifting Families…Continue

Trimming a tiny baby’s finger nails is the hardest thing that you will have to do as a parent. I know that I personally hated trimming my baby’s finger nails but it was something that I had to do so that my baby wouldn’t scratch their face all up. Their nails are soft and very thin. Also, with a squirmy baby it make it hard to trim as well. It doesn’t get any easier as your baby gets older either, they learn to fight back by pulling their hand or toes away and can wiggle so much…Continue

I love side dishes. They add extra color – and flavor – to every meal. Obviously. What I don’t love is side dishes that take
a million years too long to prepare. Which is why I love this cheesy broccoli pasta! Now don’t confuse this with the processed cheesy broccoli stuff. This is all about the fresh cheese. The best part about this dish? Pretty much everything is…

With the recent Presidential elections I’m thinking a lot about the power of choice, our actions and consequences of those actions. As parents we are the ones able to vote in government elections, but how do our kids get a vote or have a say? And how do we prepare the future generation of voters to consider their responsibilities as citizens, to appropriately voice their own thoughts and opinions and to consider the costs of those decisions?

Just typing the title of this post made me sad. I wish I could tell you that Rylee's first Christmas was full of laughter and joy. That we spent the whole day watching Rylee master the art of crawling and that we ended the night cuddling and enjoying our first Christmas as a new family. Sadly that's not the case.
When Rylee was in my tummy I would pray for her every night. I prayed for happiness but most of all health. So when I delivered my 5 lb 14 oz baby girl and the doctor…Continue
You likely know by now that Goatdog is generally a giant thorn in my side and that I often contemplate turning him into the main course for our Thanksgiving dinner. That being said, though, he has somehow managed to worm his wicked way into our hearts with all of his quirky little…Continue
