What's going on

My 101 things started off with a bang. I have a 3 ring binder with the list, a calendar and notes about some of the stuff I want to do. I also pulled out a notebook for all the journaling and list making stuff. It's coming along nicely. I'll keep you posted on when I complete the big stuff.

Chopping Down a Christmas Tree

Kate, age 3, Will, age1

Parental Flaw #856: Finally having kids, thereby finally getting your chance to live vicariously through them. Then trying to cram the reliving into their first three years without a lick of thought. Average Future Therapy: Forced to attend family events at young ages makes the children lethargic and unresponsive to even the most mundane of outings. Will require ongoing cash bribery. Potential to do this to their offspring: Surely.

Are you happy?

Moms are so busy tending to the needs of others that we seldom stop to ask ourselves if we are happy.

When was the last time you asked yourself if you are happy?

Would you know it if you were or were not happy?

Happiness is measured in a subjective way. That is, we all have our own definition of what makes us happy. To many of us being happy means having the adoring husband, the happy kids, and the clean house. To others it means getting pampered… Continue

Retail Rant

Retailers take notice!

I do NOT wish to give you my phone number or open a charge card to save 10% (which barely covers the sale tax here in Michigan). I do not need batteries or any other impulse items that liter the sales counter to point I can not find room stack the items I am actually purchasing. Please stop talking about your boyfriend and his cousin(that just got out of jail) to the clerk next to us. Although I'm glad he's home for the holidays, I really could care less. Please stop… Continue

Do you tell them about Santa?

I just published an article on my site called How to Keep Believing. And a recent comment brings up the issue... HOW and WHEN do you tell them the truth about Santa?

I'd love to get more moms thoughts on this to share with readers. It really is just around the corner for me. My kids are 7 and 5. How long will I be able to hold out?!

What Makes A Great Blog?

I have a blogging philosophy that I want to share with you today,

A great blog is like a skirt - It should be long enough to cover the topic but short enough to keep your interest.

This is the philosophy that I try to follow every single time I sit down to write my blog. It isn't always easy for me since I'm such a wordy person and I'm easily distracted. I do my best to keep it together, but let's face it - most of the time I'm a mess. (But a HOT MESS as Perez says.) So in… Continue

What was I thinking

I survived Thanksgiving and running between families to be able to spend a little time with each group. But what in the world was I thinking when I decided I would brave the crowd to save a little money on Black Friday. I mean I did save a ton. I managed to buy for 5 addition children, not counting my own and only spending $37 for everything. But goodness was the store crowded. I tried to talk my husband into going in my place, but he refused. Maybe one day I can convince him that it isn't as… Continue

Toy Nostalgia: Fashion Plates and Barbie’s Corvette

As a 30-something mother of two little boys, I don’t get to play with dolls very often. When I visit my neighbor who has two little girls under the age of five, I walk into a pink fantasy land of glittery, girlie wonders. Barbies, princesses, baby dolls, My Pretty Ponies, Polly Pockets - it’s awesome! Were I 20 years younger, you could never make me leave that house.

As a little girl, I loved two things. Fashion Plates and Barbies. My younger sister and I played with Fashion Plates… Continue

5 Ridiculously CUTE, Colorful, Green Gifts for Baby

Eco-friendly baby products are hotter than tattooed celebrities right now. Why? Because going green with baby just makes sense. The world is a scary place based on what you can see. Who wants to think about the invisible dangers lurking around like toxins and chemicals?

Glass baby bottles stepped off of the dish rack and onto the runway, thanks to WeeGo. These adorable mini WeeGo bottles by babylife are draped in colorful modern silicone… Continue

Taylor Goes Hollywood

Recently we kinda sorta went Hollywood very, very briefly. I got to ask a teething question of one of the younger Drs. Sears on the CBS hit show "The Doctors".

I don't know if it's a hit show. It has lasted long enough for our episode to air. And that hunky ex-"The Bachelor" doctor hosts and SAYS MY NAME. Total hoot. Taylor had a great time trying to figure out the sound boom waving over his head during the taping. And everyone was extra nice to him because the sound boom guy… Continue

Were the Black Friday Deals that Great?

I have mildly been into the Black Friday Deals. While I like saving money, and who doesn't, I am not willing to camp out to save a few bucks on something I probably do not need anyway.

In the past I have showed up 20 minutes early to stores such as Target to get the free bag of goodies and a few videos. This year, Target had no early bird incentive. It seemed that there were fewer stores with incentives. Is it the economy?

I have to wonder if the lack of wonderful early… Continue
