Rascal had to be rescued from the dog kennel yesterday while I went to run a few errands. The dog was giving him the evil eye yesterday for being in her kennel and I didn’t want her to take revenge on him. So I placed him on the fireplace mantel so that he was safe and out of harms way.

A few nights ago before I fell asleep, I read the following passage from Mikhail Sholokhov’s “And Quiet Flows the Don”:
“Gurgling something into his beard, Pantaleimon limped off to his hut. He found Gregor in the kitchen. Without saying a word, he brought his stick down over his son’s back. Doubling up, Gregor hung on his father’s arm.
‘What’s that for, Father?’ he demanded.
‘For your goings-on, you son of a bitch!’

It is late Saturday morning and I am still in my jammies. So is my son. This is how we do it on Saturdays. This is how we roll. He is busy playing a video game and I am doing the chores around the house ... dishes, laundry, garbage, etc.
Now, when I take out the garbage, the can is right beside the back deck. The can being right beside the deck makes it easy, especially in the bad weather. The thing is though, you have to shut the back door completely. You…Continue

I have this favorite pair of Frye boots. They’re the Jane – a classic, dark brown leather riding boot. They’re gorgeous – and I can pair them with anything from jeans to leggings to sweater dresses.
