I can only imagine that every member of my family just read the title and clicked on it so fast thinking I was writing a post about them! Slow your hearts down… I’m writing to all the mamas and friends who have written me over the course of this month. I’m at a stand-still right now with nothing to do. That’s right… NOTHING. It feels odd and I’m a little out of place. I have nothing to bake or cook, nothing to wrap, nothing to clean and only 1 basket of laundry to fold. SO I guess, as…Continue

My hands are cold this time of year. The days are dark and short but feel long—cooped up with three restless children. The wind howls.
And I become a basketball widow.
My husband’s schedule as an independent school athletic director keeps him busy enough, even when he’s not coaching. But when his girls’ varsity basketball season begins in November, Jeff is hardly ever around. Over the past few weekends, I had to text him updates about our sick children while…Continue

Well, Christmas is not only about giving and receiving.. It is also about remembering how our good Lord sacrifices himself to save mankind... we are all precious in His eyes, right? Praise The Lord... And besides these points, I also want to remember Christmas by "pampering" myself with a gift I need for my own use... heheheee...

Days like today make me feel like super mom. And it’s not even eight am yet.
I was up early with the little man – who was hungry well before six am but not ready to actually wake up. So instead of opening his eyes at all he just screamed while I prepared a bottle for him. I tried to give him some oatmeal – which is usually what he has for his first meal of the day – and he screamed some more. Apparently he really didn’t want to…Continue

Child birth classes are designed to provide expectant mothers with information so that moms are prepared for labor and delivery. Every woman will have a different labor and delivery experience, but the techniques used to help minimize pain and prepare a mother for labor are similar.
I remember when I was a first time mom, I didn’t feel that I really needed to attend a child birth class, I had it in my mind that I was going to have a natural birth and knew how…Continue

** December is one giant money suck.
** Our Elf on the Shelf would be a lot more welcome here if he wrapped presents and actually did "elf" shit.
** Taking a shower lately is definitely a luxury.
** Living next to a house being torn…Continue

When RJ was first born, I can honestly say that I was a pretty prepared mama. I had his clothes washed and put away long before we went to the hospital, knew exactly how to prepare his bottles and was totally stocked up on diapers and wipes for the little guy. I even had all of his teeny tiny crib shoes neatly displayed on a shelf in his closet! But there was one sticky situation that I wasn’t prepared for: changing my baby boy’s diaper. Sure, I’ve changed tons of diapers before. But…Continue

Don't get your panties in a twist, I'm not asking about *that* first! Who was your first favorite band/singer? What was your first favorite song? Do you remember? I listened to a lot of music with my mom in the late 80s/early 90s. I liked my mom's music a lot when I was little, and a lot of it I still really love (take Madonna, for example. Loved her music back then, but not her new stuff). It…Continue

Rascal had a good time playing Wii games after the kids went to school yesterday. He got rid of his excess energy and crashed just about the time my oldest son got home from school. Then last night as I was getting ready for bed, Rascal told me good night as he was leaving to head back to the North Pole.
This morning I heard him coming in the back door shortly after I got up. It was really windy outside this morning and I wanted to make sure that Rascal made it inside safely. The…Continue

I love that our little family now has a few traditions throughout the year and this is one of them! Monkey Bread. I only make it one time a year; on Christmas morning and this year I am especially excited for it (probably bc I’m pregnant and have been craaaaving it since December 1st!)
Monkey Bread is prepared on Christmas Eve and left sitting out on the counter until morning. Then, all you have to do when you wake is pop it in the oven, set a timer, and voila! 20 minutes…Continue

Here’s the thing: when you have a baby, there are a lot of things that change in your lifestyle no matter who you are. You’re crazy busy as you adjust to having a new little person in your life who requires constant care and attention. You’re sleep deprived and learning how to cope with doing normal things – like laundry – when all you want to do is spend time with your new little addition. But slowly, you adapt. You learn to…Continue

So, Matt is in 1st grade and already he's getting teased by a few girls for believing in Santa Clause. Already? What happens in theses houses that the magic has been extinguished so soon? Endangered animals are a subject that's very close to my heart, so this Christmas I'd like to offer two people the chance to win an animal adoption for a year from the World Wildlife Fund. Here are just some of the animals on offer that you can adopt:
