For All Moms

We are sitting at lunch when my daughter casually

mentions that she and her husband are thinking of

"starting a family."

"We're taking a survey," she says, half-joking. "Do

you think I should have a baby?"

"It will change your life," I say, carefully keeping

my tone neutral. "I know," she says, "no more

sleeping in on weekends, no more spontaneous

vacations...."

But that is not what I meant at all. I look at my

daughter, trying to… Continue

Parents...Really Bad Stuff Is Happening On Your Trampoline!

If you have teenagers  and a trampoline, bad things are happening in your yard. And I’m not talking about broken bones and twisted ankles.

There should be a new warning label on trampolines…”WARNING! TEENAGERS WILL MAKE OUT AND MORE ON  A TRAMPOLINE AT NIGHT!” I haven’t figured out what the graphic should look like for…

Whats Important

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, When 24 hours in a day is not enough; remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and start to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full.

They agreed that it was.

The…

Button, Button, Who's Got a Button?

So today, we're doing a little more blog remodeling. I figured it would be fun to have a blog button to share, but I didn't want to fidget too much with creating one from scratch. Thank goodness for all the online button generators! I used Cool Text Graphics Generator for this one. And there was ready to go code over at A Heart for Home. It was quick and easy… Continue

Dinner at Tyler Florence's new Rotisserie & Wine, Napa

My sister gave us a gift certificate to the new Tyler Florence restaurant in Napa, Rotisserie and Wine. We got to the Napa Riverfront early enough to walk around.

Munch loves the pathways that go around the park and under the bridge.… Continue

Raising Une Gourmet Petite

I'm fortunate to live in an area where good food is accessible and appreciated. There's nothing I enjoy more than a great dining experience and it's always been my goal to make sure Munch knows the good from the bad.

Step one was exposing her to a variety of cuisines and flavor profiles. When she was barely a year old, I was delighted to discover Munch's favorite food from my aunt and uncle's house was sinigang- Filipino "sour soup." When I went back to work, I was glad to know Munch…

Word Art

As crazy as the holidays get, one thing I really enjoy doing over the winter break is collaborating with Munch to make art for the family. This year I was inspired by the "subway art" I've seen in many DIY blogs.

I began with this- one of several paintings Munch did a couple of summers ago when she was just beginning to explore with paint. I never cared for the muddiness that came from the brown and was just waiting to paint over it.… Continue

Homemade Baby Wipes

After my little girl was born, the world, as I saw it, changed. Everything appeared more fragile. My concern for the well-being of our planet deepened and I made a greater commitment to protecting and preserving our world. One of the steps that I took in order to reduce waste was to make my own baby wipes....

Don't trust the garage door sensor!

My post:

http://btrbb.blogspot.com/2011/01/if-you-think-your-garage-door-sensor-is.html

I have been guilty of assuming that the garage door sensor will work without me worrying about it or checking it.  I have even let my daughter run under the door when it is going down because I figured "the sensor will stop the door."  This is probably not the smartest thing to do and I have…
