Vegan Bruschetta

My family loves bruschetta (pronounced brus-ketta). One of the best things about bruschetta is the health benefits of the tomatoes used in this tasty appetizer. According to The World's Healthiest Foods (2010) "lycopene from tomatoes has been repeatedly....

How I became a stay at home mom.....

When I was younger, I never thought that I would be a stay-at-home mom. I had thought that I would finish school, work for a while, get married and then have kids. I guess I never really gave much thought to

what would happen after I had my children, but I also don’t think that it

would’ve mattered because from what I have learned, nothing is like it seems on

T.V.

Leading up to having my daughter,…

Tengo Un Gato En Mis Pantalones- Wait, That's Not Right.....

"Tengo un gato en mis pantalones.... You really need to learn to speak Spanish so we can talk around the kids without them knowing what we're saying." Words actually spoken by my best friend this morning.

But, wait. This is Tucson. My kids may not be able to understand what's going on if we speak Spanish, but everyone else's kids around us will. And, I don't think something's quite right. Did you just teach me to say "I have a cat in my pants"?

Recap and Redirection

After a long weekend of visiting family in Topeka, Kansas, we are home now and attempting to settle back into “normal” life. It was a fun visit and Noah was able to meet his great grandparents and great great grandma from Michigan, but there’s just something about being home, isn’t there? There’s something about being in your own space and setting your own routines; I’m not sure what it is exactly but I feel it tugging on me every time we go away from home for more than a day or… Continue

ThinkGeek Gifts Week 3: LEDs Make Stuff Cool

For this week's list, I picked some great LED gadgets because I always get comments about how cool the faucet LED is that we have in our kids' bathroom. So I will start with that...

#1) The Faucet LED is great for a couple of reasons. The kids get excited to wash their hands so we rarely have to convince them. The second is that the water turns red when it gets hot. This came in very…

Sometimes People Won't Like You- No Matter How Nice You Are

Since we moved into this house our neighbors next door have been less than friendly. We have been renters since we moved to this town because we never planned on living here forever. We have had a few opportunities to purchase a home here but really want the freedom to leave when we want to. We are not too crazy for…

Bed Bugs Lancaster PA

If you are experiencing bed bugs in Lancaster PA, I can help. Bed bugs are on the rise, and international travel is fueling it. For almost 50 years, they were eliminated, but with the Clinton Administrations ban on certain insecticide classifications, the pest control industry is struggling to find products that actually work well. The photo on the left demonstrates what bed bug bites look like. The bites are not painful when the bugs are actually biting.

"A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle."

Heidi and Whitney went as princesses for Halloween, which was cool, although I'd kind of had my heart set on dressing them up in Gloria Steinem costumes. At least they weren't wearing bras. And, I will have you know, these princesses weren't just pretty, but also smart and kind, because that’s what really counts. That and a good credit score. ...Continue… Continue

motherhood: follow your passion

Mothering has always been one of my passions.

I dreamed of it, planned for it and waited for the opportunity to come my way.

As I was waiting for the right timing to have children and to find my

prince charming, I keep myself busy. I did not allow myself to let go of

my dream or to waver from the path I set out for myself. I stayed

focused and determined that motherhood would be part of my life.

Taking this path was not easy and I am not saying… Continue

Hyperventilation - is it the cause of all of our pain ?

As previously reported on earlier blogs, my gasping for air and chest tightness are just two of my many CFS/ME symptoms and I thought I would try to investigate the cause. The following blog is rather technical in parts and has in my opinion a controversial conclusion, but nevertheless some very interesting points are raised and you may find they…

A Male Point of View

The other night, my husband and I had a conversation, we'll say, about what I do around here and how he thinks I can do it better. He had a myriad of questions for me with solutions that in no way, would ever work in this house. Instead of being aggravated with him, you know, because I am going to his office later this week and telling him how to work more efficiently, I decided to listen to his delusions and nod agreeably and then roll my eyes behind his back.

I did find it… Continue
