Love in Spades

Sometimes we just have to make our other halves feel needed. Not just loved and appreciated, but really needed, like we couldn't manage without them, even though we know we could.

I'll take the extra pounds.

I’m pulling my hair out.  Literally.

I’ve reached the postpartum stage where a woman’s hair begins to fall out.  Yay.  If you know me, you’d know that I cannot stand loose hair.  It disgusts me.  I’m not quite sure why, but I just know it’s not for me.  I’m the friend who will pick loose hairs off of the back of your shirt.

During this part of my postpartum period with my firstborn, I was pulling out handfuls of hair in the shower every day for a month.  I’m…

A Delicate Subject

Follow my blog "Rub Some Dirt On It" at http://vermontwhitneys.blogspot.com

It's a delicate subject to talk about how smart your kid is.  There's a fine line between bragging and telling it like it is.  Between sounding proud and sounding obnoxious.  People wonder if you're exaggerating because it's your own kid or if your kid really is pretty smart.  No one ever completely believes you because all parents…

Tae kwon do brings kids back together again

As I write this, my son and daughter are playing downstairs. I don't know what they're doing, exactly, but there's a lot of thumping and bumping and they're laughing like crazy. Just listening to them is making me laugh.

My daughter is 12; my son 8. I know lot of parents who have trouble with their kids fighting at this age. After all, Katie is a tween, and Sean isn't too fond of girls his age. But I'm lucky. Since the day Sean was born, Katie has always taken care of him. And he has…

My Rollercoaster

My girls, they are amazing.  They lift me up, they listen to me, and they are present.  They listen with out judgement and offer encouraging words to help me move forward.  They are sad when I am sad, and happy when I am a happy.

My roller coaster happens every day.  I can almost tell when I wake up in the morning what kind of day it will be.  Some days I wake up, and I refuse to let myself cry.  I will be cheerful, and present with my children.  I will play hide and seek…

Prepping for My Son's Second Birthday Party!

Today I will be running around getting ready for J Myster's Second Birthday Party. It turns out that we may actually have around 15 people in our house, and I'm freaking out that I may not have enough seating...

I did not make J's cake. I'm not much of a baker, I'm more of a cook. But its Toy Story Themed and If I could have made it Thomas The Train Themed I would have, this Kid requests to watch "Thomas" all the time since we got him a Thomas the train set for Christmas. Maybe next… Continue

Temporary stay at home mom, and that's ok with me.

Two kids, two stints as a temporary stay at home mom….otherwise known as maternity leave.  My second “vacation” as many ignorant people around me prefer to call my time off is coming to a close.  Back to being a slave to the man next week.  I have mixed emotions.  I love my children.  I have…

3 Signs That You Are Not As Put-Together As you Think...And People Are Taking Notice!

I have been working hard at trying to keep several truths in the forefront of my mind and soul.  These truths are that my husband loves me.  My husband is so very unabashedly shameful and sorry for the pain he has caused me and has tried every way and every day to show how sorry he is and how much he loves me.

The painful truth that I am trying to keep OUT of my heart and soul are the facts that while I forgave him, I am still deeply and terribly hurt by his actions.  I am…
