Blackhead removing strips- Homemade beauty treatment #15/15

I found this great treatment on www.spaindex.com. The result are similar to a B***e strip!

I mixed enough to do my nose. In a bowl I poured in 1/2 tsp Knox gelatin powder and 1 tsp of hot water. I microwaved it for 7 seconds to warm it up enough to melt the gelatin powder.

I did this treatment twice and found that:

*I best applied it with my finger

*You have to work quick because the gelatin sets really fast

*apply a… Continue

"Mom, Dad's a boy, he has a peanut!" What you may ask yourself is my 2 year old talking about? Well, lets just say our 2 year old, like all 2 year olds I know, likes to follow us absolutely EVERYWHERE we go. This includes the bathroom, the shower, the closet... you get the picture, there is no hiding anything from this kid. SO, today I just need to take a second and share some of the Gabi-isms that make her so special. I may even make you privy to some of our Bella-isms. Here are a few from… Continue

Frogs are for soup, Friends are forever!

Today I was reminded if a growing trend in today's world, especially in regards to Mommies. You see, I am fully aware of the fact that, it is near impossible to make real friends as an adult. I know we make acquaintances on a daily basis, but real , honest to goodness friends who you can be yourself with. You know the friends that you can have those heart to hearts with and actually let your guard down without fear of backlash. Those same ladies that you would actually let see you without… Continue

Haiti.......and the lessons I have learnt

Tell all my mourners

To mourn in red –

Cause there ain’t no sense

In my bein’ dead.

Langston Hughes,

(1902 – 1967)

It is with utter dismay and shock that the world has helplessly watched Haiti crumble. So sudden, so terrible, horrific and completely devastating. Who has control over natural disasters? Who can calm nature when she lashes out?

The Earthquake in Haiti has destroyed many lives and has probably changed the destiny of a few. But it has… Continue

Going against the grain - Opting for Fetal Monitoring rather than Induction at 42 Weeks Pregnant

Like a hesitant child, I dangle my feet in midair off the side of the hospital bed and feel slightly out of my depth. I’m not a child though; I’m 42 weeks pregnant and in keeping with my decision to go with the flow, am at the hospital for my first session of daily fetal monitoring.

I slowly take in the whir of unfamiliar bleeps, pulses and machinery and hope that I’m doing the right thing. I hope when they hook me up their not going to detect something is awry with baby, who thus… Continue

In the aftermath

In the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake we have gotten thousands of calls from families wanting to open there home to children orphaned by the earthquake. If you are among them, I want to take a moment to thank you for opening your generous heart to someone so in need of love. All of us at Dillon are following the situation with aching hearts.

That said, at this time we are not sure how international adoption will be affected by the earthquake. If you have questions you want… Continue

Curfews

I had an epiphany this past Sunday night. I finally figured out why my parents gave me an 11:00 p.m. curfew when I was in high school.

Of course, at the time I thought it was SO annoying, and I vowed I'd never do that to my own kids when I had them. Everybody else had later curfews or even better, no curfew, but not me. Nope. I'd have to leave all the fun, head home and tiptoe into our quiet home where my mom would be waiting for me.… Continue

Cash-Only Diet Ending

Well, we did it! My DH and I stuck to our "financial fast" and this weekend, it will officially come to an end. Good thing too, because I only have a few dollars left and we need groceries :)

I did learn something rather interesting about our family during this credit/debit-card free experiment. We eat a lot of fresh food. My fridge is nearly cleaned out but my pantry is still filled with rice mixes, tinned veg and soups. Before I really got into cooking, we use to eat a lot more… Continue
