In Response to Single Dad Laughing's Post on Bullying ~Mom Blog~

Blog Title from Single Dad Laughing: Click to read the article, Are we all talk, or are we going to fix this?

You also need to understand that A LOT is being done in order to speak out against bullying. I have been an elementary educator for nearly 20 years. The majority of my years have been in third-fourth grades, the years when you will actually see some 'teasing' start to take place. Of… Continue

Is A Two Year Old Too Young for Halloween?

Help me! I'm having an internal struggle with myself this morning. Do I dress my girls up for Halloween? Molly is definitely too young to participate, I'm not even sure I'll dress her up. But is Maggie at the age to really "get" Halloween? She'll be two in two weeks. (Yikes!) I can't decide if I should play along or just wait until next year. Last year, I dressed Mags in her NFL Jaguars cheerleader outfit.… Continue

Holiday fun and gift giving at the office

When it comes to holidays and giving gifts to your co-workers, sometimes that can become a bit uncomfortable if you don’t know much about your co-workers’ private lives. The last thing you want to do is give a lousy gift and become known as the “lousy gift giver” in your department.

Why not suggest to your co-workers a Christmas gift card swap? Sort of like the Secret Santa gift… Continue

Should vs DO!

Every day I have an opportunity to try again. To try to get it right. Make it happen. Pursue flawed perfections.

Every day I have a common knowledge of what I should do. And every night I go to bed wondering why I didn't DO it!

For instance. Last night my hubby put me to bed at 8:30. I was grateful and so happy and did doze off immediately. And then Katie, escaping from her room, came and crawled in bed with me. I knew I should have gotten up and taken her immediately back… Continue

Tinfoil dinners, yum!

Post:

http://tawnasplan.blogspot.com/2010/10/made-awesome-tinfoil-lunches-yesterday.html

I grew up making tinfoil dinners over the campfire quite a bit growing up. You can pretty much cut up and meat and vegetables (literally ANY vegetables and a ton of them) and wrap it in tinfoil bake in the over, grill, or fire and after about 30 minutes eat! No dishes, its… Continue

Your child’s teacher is a very important person in his/her daily routine. Naturally, you want to make the teacher feel special this Christmas, but what do you buy a teacher that isn’t too cheesy? A gift card of course!

Christmas gift cards are perfect for teachers. They aren’t too personal but they allow you to express how thankful you are for the time and attention the teacher gives to your child.

The Home Schooling Discussion

With my oldest daughter starting Kindergarten next year, I am becoming more and more aware and looking into the different educational paths out there.

Originally, I looked forward, at times, to the school years. Mostly because I would finally have that coveted time to myself to get things done, rest from the first 5 years of their lives, and do something for myself. But, as it gets closer, some questions are coming into play.

Mostly because of the news and what is going on… Continue

What'cha doing . . . for the Dove Self-Esteem Weekend?

The Dove Self-Esteem Weekend is almost upon us.

This Friday, October 22 to Sunday, October 24th. I have four hours of girl time scheduled with the teens on Sunday. Scheduled, because we'll be baby free. :-D

Painting nails, styling hair, going through the closet and figuring out

what's needed for the winter wardrobe, what's out, what goes together

and just chatting.

It's pretty hard to get things done when there's a 2 years old running around and a… Continue

Store KidArt Smarter! Kidfolio Review

Tired of having glitter, pom poms, and wrinkled up paintings scattered everywhere?! At the risk of sounding a little less than sentimental, I can barely keep up with the massive influx of KidArt from preschool, which sent me searching for storage solutions. I found one that was basic, but brilliant. Oh, and cheap - a total bonus. :)
