I've been a stay at home/work at home mom for 8 years now. If I was to try to get a job today I'm not sure what I would be considered for. I have a bachelors degree, but does anyone care? I have run my own home daycare, but again does anyone care? If I were to go and look for a job today, would the wage I could earn be enough to even pay daycare expenses? What is a girl to do? I could go back to school and add a Masters Degree to that Bachelors degree... But still would anyone care? In this… Continue

I've had this recipe tucked away for a while now. I came across it again during my recent reorganization of my recipe notebook
. As good as it sounded when I first clipped it, inspiration took some time to strike again. A couple of weeks ago, I happened to record an interesting-looking 2-hour… Continue

As we eagerly anticipate the arrival of our baby boy in 4 weeks, today at work there was an interesting surprise. One of the people in the building had been planning on having a baby girl and today when the baby was delivered they heard the words that I'm not exactly sure how I would react to, "It's a boy! SURPRISE!" All these months of… Continue

Ok, Ladies its Tuesday and ,as I said, today is the day we can all vent "anonymously" if preferred, and get everything off our minds..without judgement:)I will start the ball rolling:
Is it wrong that sometimes I wish I was brave enough to dose my kids with ibuprofin, so they would go to sleep at a reasonable hour without me having to lay down with them?
Sometimes, I really miss my life before I was married or had kids, so much so that I fantasize about who I used to be:)LOL

About 9 or 10 months ago, we were sitting at home during a pretty significant storm. Several tornadoes touched down in the area and we ended up losing power for a couple of days. This was early in the summer and the temperature was fooling around with 90 degrees.
When the power goes out in the… Continue

I looked in the mirror and actually scared myself. It was one of those pull-your-head-back-and-scream "Yikes" thingys. Not good.
Where are my eyebrows? When did I put purple marker under my eyes? Just how much grey hair do I have
I spent a good part of my Saturday afternoon watching QVC's "Day of Beauty". I was looking for a magic potion, something to rid my face of it's ills and send in out into the world looking 10, 15, 20 years younger. I… Continue

It was an exciting day yesterday. I did a root canal
treatment in the morning and a graduating student in dentistry visited our clinic in the afternoon. Mike was just looking around, trying to get a feel of the whole private practice thing. He was looking at options available to him. We spent the rest of the afternoon talking about his plans and seeing my patients.
It’s so good to know that someone so young like Mike is already… Continue

The Age of Computers and Television has also become the Age of the Couch Potato. Instead of running outside to play, our kids choose to sit down and text. This decrease in activity level is contributing to the current child obesity epidemic. One third of all children in the United States are overweight or obese and at risk for medical illness because of their weight. Is your child part of that group? If so, insufficient exercise could be partly to blame.
A new study from the British… Continue

Did you ever think about the dignity that you lose at the end of pregnancy and, of course, in the birth? How many people within those two months see our vaginas and stick their fingers up them? It's really disturbing when you think about it that way, isn't it? The place that is supposed to be the most private on your body suddenly becomes the focus of many people's attention. Something that your mother always told isn't supposed to be touched except by you or your husband (my mother was a… Continue

In my house, Breast is Best. As many of you know breastfeeding is very important to me. Of all the things that motherhood brings, I think the gift of feeding, nurturing and bonding with my daughter is the greatest. I feel I am among a lucky minority of women who had no problem breastfeeding my daughter. I know so many woman who have struggled. Shed countless tears. Experienced pain and heartache and many who in the end, were unable to continue breastfeeding at all. But, lets face the facts.… Continue
