"I don't need the money. I have enough."

He was waiting for me when I got out of the bathroom, and he was holding a tiny, bloody tooth in his hand.

"I just wiggled it a little bit," my little boy told me. "And it came out. I didn't even think it was that loose."

It was late, really late, but somehow, the tooth fairy managed to find him that night. At our house, the tooth fairy is pretty thrifty. I've heard tales where she leaves $5, even $10, even higher, but here, she just leaves $2. (He lost a tooth, after…

Bitten By The Twitter Bug

It wasn't love at first site. Not at all. The first time we hooked up, it was through my old buddy Linkedin. There was an emptiness [in my profile] that needed to be filled. So I submitted. Did some stalking, got stalked a bit and after 3 weeks I got bored. Came across Facebook, Liked it a lot and it was bye bye birdie.

Fast forward, one year later. I hit the… Continue

Love Is Enough

I love Valentines Day! I know I am a sap. My friends say if I were a color I would be pink for sure. So naturally I adore this gushy, blush colored holiday, however commercial it may be.

Given the combination of the times, and my ridiculous schedule  a romantic date with candles, great wine, stimulating conversation , and a hot black dress are not happening this year. I admit in years past I would have been disappointed by the truth surrounding the check book and day timer on this of…

Apple Experiment

I bought two dozen of organic Gala apples from Costco yesterday. I am starting an apple experiment today (o:

My apple experiment is very simple. I plan to eat three (non-candy coated) apples a day, one before each meal.

Why? A medium apple only contains about 80 calories, no fat & no cholesterol.

The fiber in those apples helps you to…

Great Illustration on Balancing the Federal Budget

Yesterday I posted on my blog ( about a great illustration on balancing the federal budget given by Johnathon Karl with ABC news. If anyone is interested, go to ABS News and look for Balancing the Budget: Where Does the Money Go?

He demontrated using a bunch of pennies on a table to show that what Democrats and Republicans are squabbling over is a nominal amount of money relative to the whole budget. Unless we're…

What things should you teach your young child?

There is no right or wrong answer for this. Some parents teach their children respect, good manners, social etiquette, etc. Others think it’s important for their children to have fun and enjoy life, enjoy others and take advantage of every minute of pleasure they have because life, after all, is a tough journey. Whether you teach your child discipline, good morals, and responsibility or tolerance, respect and self worth, you are on the right track because you are trying to impart something…

Confidential Blogging

As I read a variety of blogs about different subjects, lifestyles, parenting, world affairs to name a few, I find myself getting a wider scope of how people think. It's an interesting hobby, this blogging lark, and one most people find enjoyable. I also read posts which make me cringe when I wonder how on earth they get away with what they write about. For example, the other day I read a post, very entertaining, about a teacher and her pupils.

My students are the best!

It's been a while, and this week has been packed. I work at a boarding school for underprivileged kids and every year we have "Creativity Week" where teachers split up into groups with students to work on projects. The students and teachers come up with ideas for the projects and then get to pick which they want to participate in. It's a great week where we get away from textbooks and homework and have FUN! My group is doing "Pamper Day". We are volunteering at a homeless shelter giving the… Continue

Missing: Rubber giraffe, goes by the name "Diaper Bag Sophie." She's about 6" tall, BPA free with long, skinny spotted legs, black crazy-town looking eyes, perma-grin & horns. Last seen in Isabel's mouth, possibly while we were at church or maybe in the grocery store. Vaguely remember seeing giraffe legs sticking out of the bag around the time of her disappearance, but I also left my car keys in the ignition at the mall last week, so I…
