Welcome to Weird Wednesdays, hosted by It's OK to be WEIRD!
A few more weird questions to consider (gathered from various sources including conversations with my husband and children):
Do you suppose when the French swear they say, "Pardon my… Continue

Bob and his big sister were invited to a birthday party yesterday at a really nice play-centre-type-place.
I was a little anxious as I wasn't familiar with the place and didn't have much… Continue

And these, friends, are this week's Mom Things:
When something of value goes missing in your house, one of the first
places you look is in the kitchen trash can (undoubtedly underneath
coffee grounds). Then in the toilet. If it's not in either of those
places, you are not at all above dumping the outside trash can onto the
driveway and wading through the refuse.
It's for events like that above that you consider purchasing a HazMat
suit. It would… Continue

I wasn’t entirely sure whether or not to write this post. But then I thought, you guys are adults. You understand that life isn’t just rainbows and squirrels covered in sparkles. I can give it to you straight. And if I’m wrong, well then, I guess a few of you will probably make a mini throw-up in your mouth.
Our weekend started out with projectile vomit. And then it got gross. And no, this will not run amok into a poop post, unless you count that incident with our cat making diarrhea… Continue

Today in the blogophere is Wordless Wednesday. For those not familiar with it, people post photos on their blog and don't type anything. The picture usually speaks for itself.
Since I'm trying to get myself back into blogging, I've been trying to participate in memes like WW. I'm really proud of the one that I did today, so if you have a chance, head over to http://armyfamilyok.wordpress.com
and check it out. You probably won't be able to… Continue

While reviewing an ARTICLE from Reuters titled “Study shows consistent benefit of early daycare”, I was reminded of the challenges parents face while evaluating options for entrusting their most precious beings in the hands of a childcare provider. There are so many studies out there though that either support or discredit the concept of “childcare” versus full-time parenting.
The Parental Role vs.… Continue

A face-to-face meeting between the new host family and the au pair candidates is usually not possible, because an au pair will come directly from his/ her home country on a J-1 visa to live with the host family. However, there is the possibility of interacting through a live Skype conversation including a webcam, via e-mail and most importantly by phone.
The phone interview is a key portion of the selection process for an au pair. In addition to some questions suggested… Continue

It was another one of those nights when I couldn’t sleep. By 2am, one kid had woken up once, another twice, and I was wide awake from my efforts to get everyone back to sleep again. So, as I usually do, I Continue
just laid there in bed thinking. Sometimes I think about what to pack
the kids for snacks for camp. Or I wonder if I forgot to put the
laundry in the dryer. Sometimes I think about the long list of things I
haven’t been able to get to. This was one of those…

This is what I asked myself the other day. Granted, that question is usually a daily utterance, after I do something like trying to start the car with a bottle of ketchup and finding my keys in the fridge.(You think I'm kidding, don't you?) Anyway, I was at my oldest son's soccer game and I met another mom who made me feel like the wallflower at a junior high dance. Initially, I felt superior because while my baby angelically at everyone, her daughter, who I called a "he", threw a 9.9 scale… Continue

The hubs is all about babies right now! It's been a few weeks that he's very openly expressed his want for another child. I get where he is coming from, really, I do. B is at an awesome stage right now...yes, even when its annoying and trying, the terrible two's are actually pretty awesome. She's talking like a college professor, has some very strong opinions about everything, is showing a rebellious, independent side, and is just so… Continue

As I sit here and type this entry on this dreary, rainy, humid Tuesday, I'm asking myself how on earth
is it possible that I'm just as tired now as I was before Kevin and I
took our 'stay'cation? Yep! It's been back to the drawing board over
here and today feels like a Monday for me. I'm already pooped! However,
we did have a relaxing, extremely needed weekend to ourselves and it
was so nice to have the weekend for just the two of us. We laid around,

When I became pregnant for the second time, it took visiting my local doctor once for me to decide that home birth was a must for me. And although I’d considered home birth on occasion, when I finally settled into that route for my birth, it became a life-changing endeavor for my husband and I.
Birth can be empowering. Transformative. And such a positive experience. Natural birth. Home birth. It can be all of these things and more. So, for whichever route you choose… Continue

I discovered MomBloggers just in time - before today I wouldn't have had any time or space to do anything with it!
Our company left yesterday morning and now it's back to business - the business of summer!
We've just had guests stay with us for about 10 days. It was a good visit, but it was right on the heels of getting out of school for the summer, and I think my family was pretty tired.
We're all ready to not have to go anywhere or do anything… Continue
