I'm Leading a Double Life

It never ceases to amaze me how little civilian people tend to relate to

my military experience as a spouse. I have witnessed the most

offhanded comments, which I now attribute to lack of knowledge or

someone just really not knowing what to say. I have been married to

the army
for seven years. Out of those seven years, that

little mistress has taken my husband ...Read more… Continue

The Fine Art of Car dancing

I’ve been car dancing for as long as I can remember. Maybe I got a little more free with my moves when tinted windows became popular. I guess I thought I was semi-hidden until someone I knew saw me and never

let me live it down. Eventually, I just didn’t care anymore. I busted

my moves, cut my rug, and mashed those potatoes – in the car, in the

grocery aisles, on the sidewalks. If the mood struck, I was DANCING.

Of course the fine art of car dancing is no fun alone, so…

Trying to figure it out (while eating chocolate)

It seems to me that a lot of blogging, at least when done for reasons other than 'monetizing' your website, is about trying to figure out this goofy world. I'm enjoying saturday morning in bed with my ritual cuppa and Dove Dark Chocolate and WHAM! I read someone's blog post and want to cry. How did that happen? How can I be deeply touched by some stranger across a continent and then an ocean, by little black symbols on a white background? And will MY own words someday maybe touch another…

Calling all moms!

Did you receive some invaluable advice that just 'saved your sanity'

after your baby was born? As moms, we receive unsolicited advice

(sometimes daily!) from everyone ranging from family members to doctors

to the cashier at the grocery store. Most of it can be seen as

patronizing or irritating, however some advice can be extremely helpful.

I would love if we, as a community of moms, could create a list of those

'sanity-saving' gems for all of those moms who… Continue

Childhood fears

Yesterday we went to the pediatrician to talk about Queenie's habit of not sleeping through the night and her new trick of waking up at 3 am and being awake for two hours at a time. Wide awake. And nothing

helps her get back to sleep.

It wasn't our actual pediatrician, but as we have only seen our own pediatrician once, I guess it doesn't really matter. The only twirk was that this one only speaks French whereas ours speak Spanish, so I was a

bit left out of the…

The Mimmy Affairs

This is my son and his mimmy. He loooves his mimmy. He cannot go anywhere without it. Unfortunately.

He doesn’t even suck on it – he mouths it to death with his tongue, like he’s making out with it. It’s really cute to me. Reminds me...

Pet Wellness: Pet Evil Plants

Are you aware that in your home or garden there could very well be plants that are toxic to your dog or

The Big Book of Soul - Book Review

Being passionate of all things spiritual, I became really intrigued when I read the editorial reviews of The Big Book of Soul. Finally I had the opportunity to read a book dealing with the spiritual practice of Hoodoo which focused on healing rather than hexing.

I went to a local bookstore to pick up a copy already expecting to like the book, but nothing prepared me for the treat I was about to receive. The cover itself, with its abundance of color and festive energy was striking… Continue

The Protective Shield. No, not a condom

I love being a mom, although that's not what I thought when I was growing up. There is no part of motherhood that I detest...except for the laundry, maybe. However, being a mom is one of the most difficult thing in the world.

CEOs and corporate ladder climbers, step aside. You ain't seen nothing yet. You think you have it all tough and your boss is an…
