About JoJo The Dorky Dog

Illustration-COVER-AmyHannah (6)

Theme of Book

JoJo is not your everyday, fancy schmancy, purebred canine, but a mutant-mutt with a mish-mash of curious characteristics belonging to different sorts. Throw in a pair of unmatched peepers and a heart as big as the Georgia sky, and you have found a genuine friend who is nothing short of D-O-R-K-Y! In his very first Stillwater Farm Adventure title, “JoJo the Dorky Dog”, JoJo finds himself ready for a different kind of…

Amy Hannah's Writing Life

My Writing Life

For a few seasons, I have had a gaggle of unpublished adventures nesting in my attic.   I have both nourished and disciplined these ideas and scribbles.  But, it wasn’t until March of this year that I was given the…

Heaphone Hair!

As a mom that produces music from my home studio, I have been known to sport a special hairstyle I call, “headphone hair.” It’s hard to describe but there’s a unique shape the hair takes on from a day of recording. We’ve all been known to sport that “hat hair” look but when you wear headphones for hours on end it’s a special look of it’s own. Recording is such a timeless venture. One guitar track can take hours and once I dive into the process I’m usually sucked in for the…

Just Had To Get Out There!

One of the many hats I wear is “preschool music teacher.” In my music classes there are those kids that simply have to be heard. I see that star fire in their eyes and on their faces. They simply need to stand out, shine and share it with everyone!

I understand this. When I was 5, my dad took my brothers and I to a big theater in Cleveland, Ohio to see Captain Kangaroo live and on stage, along with his side kicks, Mr. Green Jeans and the Dancing Bear. It was all very exciting and it…

My Mom’s An Alien!

My first preschool music gig was at my son’s school Miss Sandies when he was 4 years old. I was so excited to be able to sing some fun songs with my son’s classmates, and especially with my son! That day we had music time outside since it was a beautiful spring morning. Out comes my son’s class all excited and they situate themselves on the picnic tables. We began with a good ol’ round of ABC’s and their sweet voices filled the air. Pure joy was written all over their faces as they bounced…

Why a “Why?”

I’m getting very close to finding my “why,” and when I do I’m going to nail that sucker to the wall. Why am I looking for my “why? “ Because a book I read recently inspired me. It’s called, “Start With Why” by Simon Sinek (http://www.startwithwhy.com/Read.aspx). It’s a study of why some people and organizations are more innovative, influential, and profitable than others. How having a clear sense of “why” is the basis for…

Bitchslapped by Tiger Mom! Damn!

I've by now heard all this silly controversy over Amy Chau's book Tiger Mom, or whatever it's called.  I happened to be at Yale for a book signing so thought I would go meet this woman.  I was wearing one of my typical but awesome outfits; straight tight jeans, a very hard to find, but perfect fitting white T, high, black boots, and a black leather jacket.

How to Get Your Kids to the Dentist Without Tears, Tantrums or Throwing

Growing up, you might remember a time in your life when the only thing scarier than the boogeyman was your dentist. Over the years, you grew to appreciate your dentist and his or her service to your dental health, however, it did take you some time to grow into that mentality. Give your kids a…
