Suspicious Cheer

The Holiday Season has arrived and along with it, the extra pounds. I am sure that I will curse them a thousand times when I try to squeeze into my pants in January; it will be like packing an overstuffed…

Unique Pumpkin Recipes

Right when it hits the Fall Season, my family and I immediately start craving pumpkin flavored things. If it has pumpkin in it, we'll try it. This particular season, we really indulged. You'd think that we were on the cusp of a pumpkin drought apocalypse the way we've been consuming pumpkin these past few weeks. LOL! There are so many options and variations out there from sweet to savory. I prefer the sweet variety though. I'd like to share some of my more unique finds--awesome recipes I've…

It's Christmas! Time to wrestle your way up to the trough!

Picture
My mom makes the best pumpkin pie ever. It's so good, in fact, that one year I watched my brother eat one all by himself in just one sitting. He grabbed a fork, sat down on the couch and started to shovel, just like he had in his driveway that very same morning.

I, on the other hand, am not such a lover of fine pies. My weapons of choice are the green frosted Christmas tree…

Moms’ Timeout Show: Simplifying Thanksgiving (includes a Giveaway)

Calling all moms! As moms we are no stranger to the act of giving.  However, at Thanksgiving we moms tend to have a different type of challenge. The challenge of finding the balance between perfection and reality, so that Thanksgiving can be enjoyed by all, including mom. Here We Go! The Pressure of Halloween, Martha Stewart and Living in N.C.

I woke up this morning feeling pressured. Not sure if it was because the temperature was in the 60's or because one of my trees is already beginning to change. Regardless, it hit me that tomorrow is September 1st. September 1st marks the start of my favorite time of year. First and foremost, it's my birthday "month". Secondly, football starts, which means I get to start cooking chili, corn… Continue

Wacky Cake

I am making sure that I bake with my girls at least once a week this Summer.

We tie on our aprons, thoroughly wash our hands and get to work.

It is math and measuring. It is reading and comprehending. It is together time and it is love.

This week we made Wacky Cake. Possibly the richest and bestest chocolate cake ever.

Said cake was devoured within hours of frosting.…
