Take a Look at Your Bucket List Before Starting Your Holiday Shopping List

The busy holiday season is already upon us where lists are critical for moms to make it through with some sense of sanity left: gift lists, grocery lists, Christmas card lists... you name it, there's a list for it! But in this chaotic month, perhaps before you start making list after list, you should start with the most important list of all: your life's bucket…

Jesus Paid It All

JESUS PAID IT ALL! I love that phrase and it has been on my heart for weeks now. I choose to remind myself of this in every circumstance. Especially in times where Satan or people try to remind us of our disappointment, our inadequacies, our past, and our shame. There are plenty of people who have given up…

What's a Testimony?

Recently, a friend asked me to share my testimony. I was a taken aback. No one had ever asked me for my story before. Come to think of it, I wasn't so sure I had much of a story to tell. When I hear testimonies of how people had drastic circumstances that brought them to the Lord, I am usually in awe. Former gangsters, former drug dealers, former atheists, former prositutes, orphans, homeless...these are the people that have a testimony, right? I've done plenty of stupid stuff in my…

Seeking God's Purpose For Your Life: Introduction

Do you ever find yourself pondering the question “Why was I born and what is my purpose in life?”. I believe we all go through this at some point in our life (and especially with a new year beginning) when we are searching for guidance and answers for our life. What do I want to be? What are my goals,…

I Want to Ask Jesus Some Stuff

The children and I were pulling weeds from the back yard today, when Makayla, my five year old and I found a dead baby bird.  I tried to sheild her from it before she could see it but she saw it anyway and huge tears sprung to her eyes.  I told her to leave it alone, that Jesus would come and take the bird to Heaven, and instructed the children to go back inside.  I caught my daughter sitting next to the dead bird in the backyard and at first, allowed her to do so, feeling like it was her way… Continue

How Do Ya Pray, Anyway?

Jesus' got with some of his passe & gave them a great schoolyard lesson on how they should do this thing called "pray."  Naturally, He gave them the greatest answer ever. It's found in Matthew 6. I pray this prayer often for my own life & for others & I pray it a lil somethin' like this...

Christian Protests that Produce Ungodly Behavior

Middle Tennessee is part of what is known as the Bible Belt. A church on every corner is how we are depicted. For every church, there are five associate ministers waiting to hear “the call” to start their own church or begging God that main preacher will allow them to preach one Sunday. We have several national Christian organizations that are headquartered in Nashville: the Southern Baptist Convention, the National Baptist Convention, and the General Board of…

Karma, Fate or Faith

Karma I have lived a tough life. Not a rough life. To me a rough life is someone who has partied hard, used drugs, drank a lot of alcohol, been in jail or maybe even homeless: that's rough. Although I haven't been down those roads I have lived a tough life. Being a mom at the age of 15, getting married and divorced at a young age, raising a child with disabilities by myself. These… Continue

Prayer Closet Beginnings

I recently gave everyone a challenge to create a prayer closet space. Today I thought I would post a picture of the space I created in my own closet. It is a very humble start to what I hope will turn into a place that I can use as a routine to go to God when I need to ( yes you can go to God anywhere but this will help someone like me to establish a better routine for daily or weekly prayer). This is the space that is created under my shirts when I hang them all together in the closet, I have… Continue
