In the summer of 2041, 71-year-old Diane O’Connor invites Friar Antonio Ortiz to her home in Queens. The reason is nothing short of mysterious: she has a request for him, which entails giving him a letter and a recording…

A Day In NYC

We took the kids to NYC yesterday. We've never been as a family because the idea of taking three small children to the city drew strikingly similar fears to being covered in honey and laid over an ant hill.

But they're old enough now that we don't have to haul around strollers and diaper bags and 400 pounds of assorted travel necessities and since we had a free Saturday and we only live a short train ride away from the…

Talking With Wanakee Pugh

You may know her from gracing the covers of the top fashion magazines in the New York fashion world during the 1980’s and 90’s.  If you missed that, you may have seen her in various advertisements and television commercials such as: Revlon Clairol and Avon.

In fact, one of her sites reported “before Vera Wang became a national symbol for creativity and success, she (Wanakee) was a talented and spirited fashion editor for …

By Tara Riceberg, Guest Contributor – Party Planning & Entertaining

You couldn’t erect a home without a strong foundation, so why would you host a party without the same attention to detail and substance?  First, you must determine the theme.  Try to be specific.  Instead of Halloween go with antebellum Gothic. A baby shower becomes Lions, Tigers, and Twins, Oh My! Next, make your…

Why I Am Grateful This Thanksgiving

There's a reason why they call it the Christmas Spectacular. It truly is spectacular to see the Rockettes perform at Radio City, New York City. My biz partner, Terry, and I were invited with our families to meet and mingle with the Rockettes and Santa, of course. The show promises to dazzle (my six year old particularly loved the sparkley leotards and high kicks) and entertain (our boys loved the 3-D movie, feeling as if snowballs were being thrown their way). Did you know that many of the… Continue

Need Advice - Content Balance on Your Site - Your life vs Product Reviews/Giveaways

Recently, I posted a product review and received several posts from my readers that they were either leaving or not happy that I was posting so many product reviews versus posts about my life. Thats why they were there to read about my life.

I admit that I did not start my site to get free products or get invited to events, it just evolved organically that I began getting invited to do these things.I admit that the events/products review did seem to be taking up more of my posts… Continue

I USED TO BE...ASPEN VERSION

I moved to Aspen and got a job working at Photographer’s Aspen, a small photographer’s cooperative for leading editorial assignment shooters. I helped to market their images for stock. Snuggled in the midst of an Aspen Grove, our old ranch style building also housed the Tenth Mountain Hut Division offices. I had radically changed my life from living in the chaos of New York City to living in one of the healthiest towns in America. I rode my bike to work and religiously hiked up the Ute Trail,… Continue
