Being a wine lover and having written several articles about this favorite pastime of mine (with one being on Wine Successories), I see how fanatic self-proclaimed sommeliers can be. However, now that I am occasionally trying out new craft beers…

Even though I’m a mother myself, I’ve always knows Mother’s Day to be focused around my mother and typically include the four F’s of Mother’s Day: faith, family, food and flowers. This Mother’s Day, however, will be a little different. My mom is on vacation and living up her retirement, rightfully so, but she won’t be around for actual Mother’s Day. My brother and I…Continue

Mother’s Day is May 12th, that is a week from this Sunday. There are likely to be lots of articles to suggest ways to honor your mom or help your children honor their mom. I would like to take a different approach and speak to moms directly. Give yourself permission to pat yourself on the back and to take a break. Parenting is both the toughest and most rewarding job in the world. This is a good time to remind moms (fathers too) that you have to fill your own bucket before…Continue

Mother's Day is fast approaching, for my first blog post here, I thought I'd share some really neat finds to help celebrate Mother's Day.
Note: Sorry, tried to embed the videos, but the blog editor discarded them :(

March 17, also known as, St. Patrick’s Day. If you didn’t put on green this morning, don’t be surprised if someone tries to pinch you or teases you that you didn’t wear any green today. I remember wearing green as a child in order to avoid being teased or pinched at school. However, there are a few other traditions that are popular on this Irish Holiday. Some of these traditions include: parades, leprechauns, clovers (shamrocks), the color green, and anything…Continue

Valentine’s Day is by far one of my favorite ‘holidays’ but I’m honestly not sure why. It could be because of all the $1 crap I get our 2 little boys that excites them beyond words. Or maybe it’s the excessive eating of chocolate all day that makes my tummy happy. Or maybe it’s that I get to turn everything…Continue

I love Valentine's Day. I love going out. I love good food. I love romance. I love chocolate. The list goes on...
But sometimes the pressure of finding a babysitter for that one particular night, then heading out to an expensive restaurant only to find it will be a 1 1/2 hour wait time just to eat, seems like more trouble than it's worth. Last year, we decided to do something different - celebrate at home - family style! We still went out, but just chose a different…Continue
When I started writing my Valentine’s Day decorating post I had so many options for kids that I ended up writing a post with…Continue

One of the things I miss most about working in a first grade classroom is the arts and crafts projects. There’s nothing quite like a child’s piece of artwork to bring a smile to the face of a teacher or parent. Whether we were celebrating a holiday like Halloween or Christmas or creating a memorable display for Veteran’s Day or President’s Day, arts and crafts creations were wildly popular with the kids. We traced, colored, cut and glued our way through the entire school year and had a…Continue

** It's kind of disturbing to hear your nine year old sing about having someone blow his whistle. (Yeah, thanks, Flo Rida.)

While my topic won't be pertinent to most moms - and for that I am so grateful - it will be to some who are hurting or they know a mom who is. Please help them out by mentioning their child. It's wonderful hearing the name of our children whether they are here on earth or in heaven; our relationship with them never ever…Continue
** Arnold Schwarzenegger clearly has diarrhea of the mouth. And a penis for a brain.

What have I done?
I know my 11-year-old son is a capable child. He likes to help his dad out at the store and recently our neighbors hired him to look after their cats while they are away on vacation. He does well in school, is a brown belt in karate, loves to play everything from "Bach Minuet in G Major" to "Moves Likes Jagger" on the piano, puts his dirty clothes in the hamper (mostly), keeps his room fairly neat, is always up and dressed for school on time, is helpful,…Continue
