The Sweet Spot

With three children so close together, I feel like I am dealing with issues with each of them all of the time, no break in sight.

Megan now has issues going to bed and staying asleep, Sarah has her whining and hair twirling to drive me batty, and Katie has obvious sleep issues along with her new attitude that includes a daily fight over everything. I often have wondered if in the 18 years - well, more than 18 years, let's be honest - that these girls live under my roof, I will ever… Continue

Oh my, Hump Day

Today started off so well but chaos has begun breaking out and it's not

yet noon! My daughter is bouncing off the walls at an alarming rate and

she managed to knock over a bowl of chips, not once, but twice in a

matter of 5 minutes. When she knocked it over the first time, I had to

get out the broom and dustpan (the vacuum is broken) and put in a

little good old fashioned elbow grease to try and get all of the little

pieces off of the rug and into the bowl I was… Continue

Wordless Wednesday: Canada Day Edition! w/Mr. Linky!

I speak Canadian eh! That means I spell words like colour, humour, or favour properly. It means that my alphabet ends with a Zed, not a Zee. It means the beer store is a couple of kilometres away rather than a mile & a half or so. It means that when I say a bag of milk, I really do mean a BAG. And it means I pepper my speech with eh instead of y’all. Yes, that’s my subtle way of pointing out to…

Wordless Wednesday: Father's Day Edition!

In teaching The Boy the term “oxymoron” today, I used two examples to get the point across…”fighting for peace”, & “adult male”. The second example brings me to today’s post! Given all the birthday hubbub in Crazy Town this week, Father’s Day tends to take a back seat to the kidlets. To…

Evil Genius “In Da House”!

The Boy is about to turn 12. I’m baffled as to how that happened. I can’t possibly be old enough to have a 12 year old. Of course, a birthday means a birthday party. Always chaotic, stressful, & expensive. His birthday falls on Thursday this year, but of course, being a school day, the plan would be to have it on the following Saturday. Certainly that was HIS plan. However, being the…

May Mayhem *4*…A Celebration Of Motherhood!

Despite the fact that I spent the better part of the day looking to hunt down whatever sneaky, cowardly bastard thought it would be fun to plant the malware that took down numerous sites hosted by GoDaddy today, including mine, thanks to some incredible tech support & my amazing tweeps & peeps out there, I am getting Crazy Town back on track! So moving right along with our…

A Mother's Day Retrospective....

First off, I have to thank that fabulous word weaver, Allison, for having entertained the masses so well!! There’s always a place for you here in Crazy Town baby! As for me, I decided to spend the time I freed up (by suckering her in to doing my post today) to catch up on my own reading, & I made the rounds of many of my fave blogs. Imagine my surprise to hear one story after another of Mother’s…

Favorite Mom Moments

In honor of Mother's Day I'd like to list my top mommy-moments (so far):

1. The birth of both my kids.....incredibly different since one was full term and one was at 27 weeks...but they both rank right up there as a couple of the most beautiful moments in my life.

2. Savannah's first smile

3. Tucker's first round of stitches...and then second round 10 days later!

4. The fact that Tucker (4yo) still wants to "snuggle up" first thing in the morning

Favorite Mommy "Firsts"

So I've officially been a mother now for a little over a year and am celebrating my second Mother's Day. I've had some time to digest this world of fabulous mommyhood ....and although it comes with "those

days".... it also comes with the most amazing, priceless moments I have

ever experienced.

My favorite mommy "firsts:"

  • reaching her arms up to me
  • "ma…

Mother's Day is for Moms

Mother's Day is poignant for most of us. We all had a mom and we are moms. Hopefully, our moms were good moms though I do know from drying the tears of many women that not every woman had the mother she needed. And for that, my mothers, I'm sorry, because it’s a pain that stays a long time.

My mother was a good mother but she made mistakes. As a bossy first born I was quick to point them out whenever the mood fit me.…

When the Flowers and Balloons are Gone

It is the Friday before Mother’s Day and I am reflecting on all that makes me a mom, especially a mother of internationally adopted daughters. I am a typical mother,

I make sure my kids are well fed, with as little sugar and processed food on

the table as I can manage…although I tend to lose the candy game with their

Dad. I make sure they have clean

clothes and that they started out matching when I bought them…not always

successful on the fashion…
