1st kid vs 2nd/3rd kid

When I had my first son, I was probably the most dramatic, clueless, overly cautious and nervous mother you could find. I thought I knew it all. I look back now and just shake my head at myself. I recall a time when Jeremiah was about one, and he wasn’t really that good at walking still. He found a wooden drumstick and he tried to stand up with it. When he tried to stand up he put it in his mouth, and he fell forward. He took it out his mouth and coughed, and blood shot out everywhere. There… Continue

Transitioning Mom: Where is my Epidural Now?

They warn you about the pain of childbirth. They even express all the different means for managing said pain and in such depth that there are literally tons of books written on the topic! Take Control Of Your Future And Reap The Rewards

Self-published authors have a pretty steep learning curve if they want to joint the ranks of the bestsellers. And I'm not talking about the Amazon bestsellers, I'm talking about the New York Times and USA Today bestsellers. Not an easy feat. It also doesn't happen for everyone. Authors can bust their tails for years and years, writing book after book and never make…

Newly Redesigned First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test

For years, I have been talking about how much I want a daughter. I know it sounds strange when I tell this to someone, but in my family people only have children of one sex. Simply put, if someone has a daughter, all the kids that follow will be little girls, and vice versa. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed hoping that one day, while unloading groceries a stork would fly down and drop off the baby girl I have been dreaming…

To My First Born

Dear Presley (my first roomie),
Our rental classified has been answered.  In about 4 months it is expected that two new roommates will be moving in.  We will be taken over by 20 more fingers, 20 more toes, 2 more mouths to feed and 2 more sets of unpredictable vocals.  I’m not sure of your feelings on this.  Our happy home has consisted of you, your bff Bella, Guiness, Lj, dad and me for two and a half years now.

I know it must be hard to understand at your age…

Impressive In Seconds: I was recently interviewed for this month’s issue of First magazine.

However, because of the short space, the editor could not include a lot of my questions and answers. I decided to post it here on my blog. I thought this might be helpful to my readers. I added a few more lines to help facilitate reading. Here's the link: http://www.napkinwizard.com/blog/

If the Magic Fairy Came to Visit me in Mommyland

My makeup bag contains one very old tube of foundation (because I only wear makeup on the rare occasions when my husband and I go out for dinner) and a few other dried up objects. I resorted to cutting my own hair when Mirabelle was a baby (because it just seemed easier than trying to work out a time when I could go to a hair salon, given she was BF and refused…
