10 Fun Summer Activities for Kids

10 Fun Summer Activities for Kids

I walked into a store today to pick up a picture frame and other nicknacks. After gathering my items and getting in line, an older lady looked down at my children (who were bouncing around like a couple of sugar-high human jumping jacks) and said, “I have two just like that. Well, my son has two just like that. I really think they should just have school all year round. Being out for the summer…

Building a Lemonade Stand with your kids

I believe that in the summer time, when kids are off from school, that it is important to keep them active. Its important for them and also for you as a parent. One of the cool things we did last year with our daughter was to make a lemonade stand and see what she could do with it. Here's a little more about it if your are interested in reading and seeing more. :)…

Something Special to Share With The Kids On the Last Night of Summer Holidays

Well, the last night of summer is fast approaching, and I’m feeling sentimental about the end of another summer with my kids.  While I was thinking about all this last week, I got an idea that I am happy to share with all of you.  This little idea is not based on a family tradition, but is a new idea that I will be trying in my home on the last night of summer.  I thought you might like it too!

So, when my three children crawl into bed on that last exciting night before starting a new…

A Dollar in a Card

Just celebrated my birthday...yes 29 again. I received quite a few cards this year. I got the biggest kick when I opened two that each held a dollar. The memories it brought back...

While my dad was in the hospital, years ago now. One of the many cards that arrived had a dollar in it. As he lay there looking at all the cards he told my mother , if each one had had a dollar in it they could have gone out to dinner. A very special aunt of mine started the I try to put a… Continue

I'd Like One More Weekend Day Please

Who decided that the weekend should only be two days long?  Lately it just hasn't been enough for me.  I posted the title of this post as my facebook status last night, and I got about 20 "likes".  It seems I'm not the only one with this unrealistic wish.

This past weekend my best friend got married and I was in the wedding party.  While I was thrilled to be a bridesmaid (first time!), I was kind of bummed when it was Sunday afternoon and I was getting ready for the workweek... I… Continue

Fun Fridays Should Definitely Involve Food on Your Face

Homeschool in my house revolves around two pimply faced ‘tweens. Honestly, they aren’t that pimply yet, but every day I can feel it coming. It’s like a deep, gutteral rumbling below the surface and I am bracing myself for the inevitable eruption.

With increased hormonal secretions, hygiene has become of paramount importance. I find…

If the Magic Fairy Came to Visit me in Mommyland

My makeup bag contains one very old tube of foundation (because I only wear makeup on the rare occasions when my husband and I go out for dinner) and a few other dried up objects. I resorted to cutting my own hair when Mirabelle was a baby (because it just seemed easier than trying to work out a time when I could go to a hair salon, given she was BF and refused…

Momnesia a Myth?!?

The British Journal of Psychiatry has published the findings of a new research study from the Australian National University. After studying 1,241 women, scientists concluded that women's memories remained as good during and after pregnancy as before. So the kids are out of school and it's time to hit the road. The summer marks the official start of the vacation season and it's time for fun. One of my favorite vacation destinations is Disney World. I absolutely love everything about the House of Mouse.

My daughter and I visit this magical world about every two years. Now when it's time to get ready for Disney, I plan extensively. I do an extremely amount of research on what are the best days… Continue
