Book Review for: Shadow of the Hawk by K.S. Jones

My initial reaction as I began to read Shadow of the Hawk was that the writing was fluid and graceful. The feel, mood and era all reminded me of John Steinbeck and I was hooked from the very start.

Sooze is a 16 year old girl growing up in the Great Depression. She has agreed to marry a man she does not love in order to save her family. She is mature for her age and you immediately feel for her. Her character is equal parts young lady and woman and the author does such…

Shadow of the Hawk by K.S. Jones

The writing is graceful and artistic. It’s fluid and organized in through and action. When I first started reading it I thought of my love for John Steinbeck and Grapes of Wrath. You feel the desperation and admire the courage and integrity of many of the people of that time.

This story is about a young girl in her teens who considers marrying a man for the…

Is your family growing?  Do you have a limited amount of space or bedrooms in your house?  Bunk beds are a great way to utilize bedroom space and allow your children to sleep in their own space.  When my children were younger, they had to share a bedroom due to a limited amount bedrooms in the house that I was living in and at the time we weren’t in a position to move into a new home.  Bunk beds allowed me to maximize the space that we had so that each of my children were able to sleep…
