Blackberry Photo Happy ~Mom Blog~

I am always using my Blackberry to snap photos of Hudson camera happy mom here. Typically it is when I am bored and I say, "Hmmm... let me see if I can get a photo of that." Sometimes I will attempt to snap photos that include me, as well. If I am lucky, they will actually turn out okay well, sort of okay. Unfortunately, my Blackberry is not snapping very clear photos. To be honest, I should be using my regular camera. On… Continue

Time

These days it seems like Time just flies by. Pre-baby, I thought nothing of time. 1 hour didn't seem like 5 minutes. I had free time. It didn't take 4 hours to watch a two hour movie because your toddler was screaming through half… Continue

Are you a bad Halloween-candy-passer-outer??

The time is coming when you will be inundated (I'll tell you what that means later) with Halloween candy. If you have children or even if you don't, the candy will soon begin flowing like sweat down an overweight man's face…

The Scariest Thing About Halloween

Bring on the ghouls, the ghosts, the zombies, the black cats, the goblins, the monsters! In our house, the scariest thing about Halloween is my daughter's life-threatening allergy to dairy. Decorate with homemade paper pumpkins

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/homegarden/2013041952_kidcrafts05.htmlYou can almost smell fall in the air.

All of a sudden, it seems as if the air is crisper, the leaves on the sugar maples are turning orange and pumpkins have popped up in crates at roadside vegetable stands and local grocery stores.

It's my favorite time of year when this part of the Earth gets… Continue

Trick-or-Treat Lasts for Weeks at Our House

I put the kibosh on the unlimited Halloween candy fest the day after beggar’s night. The boys gorged for one glorious day.

“Gorge!! Are you serious??” my 13-year old protests as he reads over my shoulder. “I had one Butterfinger on beggar’s night! The next morning, as soon as we woke up, you told us we could only have two pieces.”

I think it was the way I announced how the candy would be rationed that was most annoying. In a strained accent, as if I were a professor at the… Continue

AN ENCOUNTER IN THE BARN

I put my boots on and trudged through the new snow out to the barn to fax a 137 paged document to my mortgage company…. yet again.

As the cogs in the fax machine began to squeak I stood in Wade’s sacrificial office, which is the antithesis of mine, playing with the smoke that was emitting from my mouth and nose. For me he built a beautiful office, inside the house, with a huge window facing South and situated directly next to the kitchen so I can jut in and out preparing meals and… Continue

What Is Your Costume This Year?

Well it is Halloween week and I cannot even begin to describe how excited my son is to go trick-or-treating and overdose on sugary things. This year he has chosen to be a pirate (exact costume below, but not him in the picture). In previous years he has been a lion, a Power Ranger, a ninja, and a Transformer (Bumblebee).

I of course will be wearing my usual costume, Mom who helps carry the candy and watches, and… Continue

Devastating News

I just received some devastating news. My son informed me he is not going trick-or-treating this year! It was bad enough when my daughter stopped.

I’m having déjà vu. This reminds me of how I felt when my daughter was 2-1/2 years old and I learned that naptimes didn’t last forever. Ridiculously, it had never occurred to me that my child would actually grow older and not require that down time any more—regardless of the fact that mommy still… Continue
