Imagining Perfect Parenting

In my opinion, parenthood is the most rewarding yet the most challenging journey any person can take. The act of balancing the responsibilities of time and money is so tricky. And more often than not, parents don't feel like they've hit the mark. And ultimately, no one person's parenting is better than another. It's about the effort to give your kids better than what you experienced in life--the act of selfless love & making choices FOR them instead of ABOUT you. With that being said, I…

The Postpartum Monster

Postpartum depression is the epitome of grief, strife, and angst which slithers and knots its cruel intentions through every inch of your body & soul.  It's a predominant force in the daily life of mother's suffering with PPD, relentlessly taunting its innocent victims to an extremely lonely, dark breaking point. Feeding psychologically, this tenacious monster's very existence depends entirely on its host; much in the same way as a parasite…

Bring On More Parenting Advice!

Why? Because one can never have enough! Well, at least that's my view and stance on the subject. I've received so much advice along the way on my journey of parenthood & I've learned to embrace everything I've been told: good or bad, agree or disagree. I've taken what I've found useful and implemented them in our lives, and I've tucked away the "other" advice for reference (because sometimes what NOT to do is important information too). Then the journey itself lends experience &…

Where's Your Easy Button?

This past Saturday I went grocery shopping with D2 in tow.  He was restless and trying to escape from the cart's child safety belt as the checkout clerk loaded our cart up with bags. Observing that I clearly had my hands full, the bag boy asked me if I needed any help out to my car. I told him, "No, thanks.  I got it."Just the other night, I was putting D2 down for bed with our…

(EFT) Emotional Freedom Techniques

EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE (EFT)

My first experience of EFT was with a practitioner and I was very sceptical. It was only six months into my illness and although sceptical I was open to anything. I was convinced straight away that this was going to be a helpful tool to guide me through this illness. Firstly I followed what was asked of me, tapping on the points I was supposed to whilst focussing on a physical symptom (headache). I had to grade the headache from 0 to 10 at… Continue

How Well Do You Know Your Neighbors?

This summer our aging next door neighbors had their two grand daughters come and stay for over two months. The oldest girl was the same age as my son, so by the end of their first day, a new friendship was quickly budding. As with most people who live in populated neighborhoods, most activities that occurred in our yard, they’re privy to them. If we were barbecuing, running through the sprinkler, eating watermelon on the deck or just picking weeds, the girl next door was quickly asking if she… Continue
