I confess, I love some things about Halloween, especially since I’ve figured out how to keep it healthy for our family.
As we were preparing for our fun evening, I thought I’d share with you how I’ve done this.
The few days after Halloween I stop at local stores to pick up lots of discounted fun stuff.
I hand this… Continue

When you get married, it is not only a merging of two lives but two families. With the upcoming holidays approaching have you discussed where you will spend Thanksgiving and Christmas?
It is important to discuss this ahead of time and both decide what works for your family. We have been taught to pray and ask God where to be which is important; we should desire to be in the right place at the right time no matter the occasion. What if you are supposed to spend… Continue

I participated in Operation Christmas Child for the first time last year through my local church. My family thoroughly enjoyed giving back through this organization. All three of my boys loved picking out items for their shoe box; they each colored a picture and my oldest included information about himself in his box. It was a great way for them to actively participate in giving back.… Continue

Have you heard of Trunk or Treat? This is often an event sponsored by a church or community group as an alternative to Trick or Treating. A group of people gather typically in a parking lot, they decorate the trunks of their vehicles and instead of going door to door for candy and treats the kids go trunk to trunk. As a host of a trunk you can pass out candy, prizes, have games like bobbing for apples, fishing for small toys, bean bag toss, ring toss, etc.… Continue

The busy holiday season is already upon us where lists are critical for moms to make it through with some sense of sanity left: gift lists, grocery lists, Christmas card lists... you name it, there's a list for it! But in this chaotic month, perhaps before you start making list after list, you should start with the most important list of all: your life's bucket…

Happy Day After Christmas. Or Boxing Day, if you live just about anywhere but America!
I hope your Christmas was filled with peace and happiness. Ours was fantastic! Oh, sure, it was crazy and chaotic and unpredictable, but that's how these things go, no matter how well you plan them. And the planning-that's what really saved my butt this Christmas!

I hate Halloween. It has not been a holiday that I enjoy as long as I can remember, for various reasons. I try to get into it, but can’t.
My kids don’t eat a lot of candy. We could just go to my mom and dad’s house and we’d be set for the amount of candy that they would eat (my parents fill their bucket).

Back to school time starts it off. Every where you turn people, places, organizations are collecting school supplies for kids who would otherwise have none. So me, understanding what it feels like to go to school with little or no supplies, grabs a few things every time I go to Target (which by my Quicken register is at least 3x per week). That's in addition to the items I purposefully… Continue

You can almost smell fall in the air.
All of a sudden, it seems as if the air is crisper, the leaves on the sugar maples are turning orange and pumpkins have popped up in crates at roadside vegetable stands and local grocery stores.
It's my favorite time of year when this part of the Earth gets… Continue

In honor of Mother's Day I'd like to list my top mommy-moments (so far):
1. The birth of both my kids.....incredibly different since one was full term and one was at 27 weeks...but they both rank right up there as a couple of the most beautiful moments in my life.
2. Savannah's first smile
3. Tucker's first round of stitches...and then second round 10 days later!
4. The fact that Tucker (4yo) still wants to "snuggle up" first thing in the morning

Well the Day is upon us, are you getting pinched today or are you pinch proof and wearing green? If not then it might be a little too late but if you're anything like me you're always seeing ideas and saving them for planning for the next year so this is my little posts of ideas to do next year for St Patrick's Day.
I really wanted to make these to take to the monkey's class today but she's been home sick with a virus and well momma did good to make her a bow so… Continue

There is something weighing on your mind, it’s a decision that you need to make for the well being of yourself and your family. You know in your heart this is a decision that if not made soon may just destroy every one around you, including yourself. Making decisions usually can be easy, for example you probably set some resolutions for the New Year but you may not actually follow through with all of them.
There are many people who live their lives exactly they way they want to live… Continue

If you’ve read the Holiday Survival Tactics chapter in The Must-Have Mom Manual
you already know about the Thanksgiving my brother-in-law told everyone to “Get the bleep out” of his house on Thanksgiving. Although it was rather uncomfortable at the time, we can all laugh about it now. But the truth is, holidays can be stressful. All that family crammed together, trying make all the… Continue
