I am VERY close to finishing my long-awaited Ebook, “50 Amazing Ways To Steal Time With Your Kids – A Parent’s Journal”.
I have spent much of this past year thinking about and creating this collection of 50 unique and diverse ideas to share with you, but I am finally about to wrap it up. I will be releasing this book in late September.
This book was designed to cover a vast spectrum of ideas. Most of them can be fit into an ordinary day with just a bit of planning, while a…Continue

My parents doing what they loved most, cooking a good meal.
Like many adult children, the older I get, the more time I spend reflecting on my parents' life and the many traditions they passed along to me and my siblings. Raised in Chicago, my parents were Italian-Americans who grew up with the same traditions that have been passed down in…Continue

The making of New Year’s “resolutions” has been a time old tradition for many. Most families start doing it when children are young and then when they grow up and have kids of their own they too do their resolutions. The great thing about making resolutions is that they can be for anyone and they can involve anything. You can read more about this on Kids New Year's…

Your Child Could Missing Out!
As I spoke to my five, almost six year old, daughter yesterday after school, she proceeded to tell me how her day had gone. It appears, according to her, no one plays with her at recess. When asked why, she explained to me that she simply waits for someone to come up and ask her to play, and when no one does, she gives up and plays alone. Now, as a mother, I feel just terrible and want so badly to make the other children play with her, but as a theatre…Continue
The other day, when I asked my six-year-old to go brush her teeth, she told me to, talk to her fist!
Every day is a new opportunity for her to wield her impetuous powers... And wield she does. From the time she calls room service to…
Do you have a laundry basket full of clothes? If so, grab your toddler or young child’s hand and take them into the laundry room with you. Did you know that you can teach them how to help with the laundry? Most children are eager and willing to help their parents with new things. Have your child take the sorted laundry from the laundry basket and they can…Continue

I would have to say that the months of the year, that bring the flowers and green back out into the open are my favorite simply because they allow for amazing family time! Because we live in the Mid-west and experience winter month with ice, snow, and cold, it is difficult getting out to do winter activities. Sadly most of that reasoning is due to me not liking cold or being cold! LOL! So I try to let go of my “hermit” ways during the nicer weather and venture out of the house with the…Continue

After the last few days, this momma needs a massage! LOL! I can't believe how quickly this week has zipped by, any more than I can believe that we are almost through June and July is just around the corner. Of course, when the week keeps you busy, it is no wonder that it has flown by. I still find it funny that even after five months, I still have not managed to establish a routine with my days, which before long will make me absolutely crazy! Though I spent so many years living by the work…Continue

Yesterday I was offered the opportunity to guest post over the The Wondering Brain with the wonderful Jessica Dy. I have included a bit of an update from the original, marked by an asterisk below.
Protecting our kids is a full-time job in today's society, with threats around every corner. As the mother of three, ranging in ages from 10 to 19, I know that the internet is a huge draw for kids nowadays. My kids, like most, know almost all there is to know about online technology. There…Continue

Books provide access to an unimaginable adventure. One of my favorite hobbies has always been reading, for as far back as I can remember. As a kid, I spent a lot of time with my grandma, and every week during summer break we would ride our local city bus to our local public library. I would of course make a bee line to the children's section to select my books. I had…

What is a blessing? Wow, what a loaded question, right? It amazes me to think of the things in my life that I consider to be a blessing. I am sure that it is a list that could vary slightly from some and majorly for others. I have really only even started thinking about and realizing just what I have to be blessed about, in the last maybe ten years. I am not sure if it is something that most kids even consider, and I think if you had asked me at any point during my teen years what blessings…Continue

I would like to say to my dear hubby...Happy Father's Day! As I write this on Saturday night, so that it will be ready to post for Father's day, I think about how much he always wanted to be a father. During the time when he was married to his first wife, that dream could never be realized, since she could not have any more children. Of course, when he and I got together, I was able to still have kids. Now, while I of course wanted more kids, it was not something that I wanted to jump right…Continue

I have been so busy these last few days, that I am just now catching up on the day to day, so her I offer a few days worth of ramblings. Last Saturday, my bestie, our girls, and I went out to our local farmer's market to see if we could get any fresh goodies. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived, there was not much left, other than some plants and a few Amish Goods. Plants I don't need at this point, but I happily grabbed several different jellies, since the hubby commented when we made our…Continue

I have noticed all of the post's lately about the upcoming Father's day and of course that comes with a Father's day tribute. Father's day, is really a day that I don't give a whole lot of thought to. Now that is not to say that I don't cook dinner for the hubby, and get him stuff from the kids, and maybe even a card from me. But otherwise, I don't really give it a lot of thought. This will probably be a hard post to write, only because it will be rather matter of fact, so here goes.…Continue

I swear sometimes I totally feel like the Energizer Bunny and I have to just keep going and going and going. LOL! The other night, as the rest of the house was in bed and it was just before one o'clock in the morning, I was sitting here at my computer with my headphones in and the melodic voice of Myles Kennedy blaring in my ears accompanied by either the guys in Alter Bridge or Slash and The Conspirators, finally with a few moments to wind down from the last few days. There is nothing…Continue

Well this holiday weekend at Corntassle Cottage was filled with various adventures. Most of the weekend was wrought with storms, and some of them included heavy rain and wind. We even had a few branches blown down onto the neighbor's house. Luckily they were not large enough to cause any real damage, just a scrap on the siding and a dent in the A/C casing, for which I am thoroughly grateful. We even managed to be able to grill out steak's for dinner on Monday evening; there is nothing better…Continue

You would think that by now I would be used to the usual chaos at Corntassle Cottage; unfortunately, I am not much of one for chaos...then again I think I could get extremely bored without it! Though I suppose with a hubby and three, well actually four children I can't forget my son from another mother, chaos is a package deal. LOL! Each of them brings their own special brand of chaos into the family. Three of the four males are of course teens, 13, 19, 20, and there are days that they seem…Continue
